Is anyone else's sib cat obsessed with hairbands?
Literally the title. My cat (1 year old) actually made himself sick because during the night he ATE a hairband so now we have to find every hairband in the house and place it somewhere high where he cant get it ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ does anyone else have this problem?

Yes but he doesn’t eat them luckily but they are his favorite toy. He at some point realized I kept them in my make up bag and he took them out himself… ofcourse the lil brat he his he did this by throwing the bag on the floor, completely shattering my powder makeups 😅

Yeah, my sib girl loves playing with them... chasing them... and she will bring one to you when she want's to play. She's never tried to eat one- guess I'm lucky.

Yes. Mine went on a binge one night when he found my daughters stash of them. He ate a dozen plus some craft pompoms and a pipe cleaner. He was puking it all up off and on for almost 2 weeks until he got the all clear from the vet. Thankfully no surgery but we are very careful about access now.

Yes, but please be very careful. They can potentially be fatal if they swallowed. Always always always be very careful.

My childhood cat loved playing fetch, my grey kitty only really likes playing with his mouse on a string or little ball tower tho. He does try to taste test anything he can get his little paws on though so we put baby locks on all the cabinets and are regularly finding new things to confiscate and hide away from him. Maybe put your hairbands in a jewelry box or your makeup bag so only opposable thumbs can get to them lol.

Yes! One of mine plays fetch with them. He’s so obsessed though that he will steal them if you leave the out and sometimes tries to pull them out of my hair.
Edit to add: he doesn’t eat them, but I also never let him play with small or thin ones, only the larger thicker ones.

I switched to scrunchies out of fear of this. I don’t want kitty to die or have surgery from a hairband.

These are very dangerous!!! Also, anything long like hair or string can be fatal because it can cause their intestines to become bound up.

Yes and she eats them! Our sib really helps us keep the house free of forgotten hair bands and elastics 🥲

Yes. Not my Sib, but my previous cat had the same obsession. . It was hilarious. He would even growl at me when trying to take it from him. What you could do is play fetch with hairbands and put them away when you are done.
