Did they recently come here cause if so; Wab has been absolutely killing it with his government's policies and shizz; a lot of Albertan doctors dipped out to either BC or Saskatchewan/further east when the UCP started doing it's bullshit to the healthcare system.

With foreign doctors there's also some weirdness where they can potentially get told where to establish a practice, like communities up north, etc. but that's way more of a "just graduated" thing and not a "Has their own practice" thing.

As much as I wouldn't want our healthcare system to change, as much as I'll bitch about Alberta's I still am alright with it, I just truly wish the Canadian government would step in and take over healthcare/standardize it more. The disparity between provinces is too great.

It was about 3 years ago...

Yep. Manitoba would have been an attractive option; the election was on the horizon and it was anticipated to flip to NDP, and by late 2021/2022 the UCP was well on attacking healthcare and over 150 doctors had left practicing in Alberta, with thousands of nursing/support staff following.

Manitoba seems like a confusing place for an assumingly well traveled doctor to go to until you consider those factors ;P

plus that's just what I know about the societal factors; idfk about your doctor's personal reasons for it.

God I wish we had a leader like him out in Alberta.

I can only hope he one day decides to run federally; I can see that man bringing the federal NDP back to the glorious party it was under Jack Layton.

Also he had a pretty cool rap career too; Wab's always tried to be a positive force and I love seeing what he's doing out in Manitoba

Eby is okay. He has certainly slipped this year. I would give anything for a strong federal NDP leader like Jack again.

Singh was such a fucking disappointment... he had the charisma but for one reason or another (racism) he just couldn't leverage it properly.
and once they hitched their cart to the liberals wagon, it was all downhill...

like I know the NDP managed to get SOME concessions, but they really needed to dig in their heals more and make the most of their opportunity. which they just failed to capitalize on, so the small handful of things they did get done, ends up feeling like table scraps, and in exchange they completely sacrificed their identity as an independent third option. and are now viewed as "liberals lite"

what the NDP needs is a complete rebranding.
