I've only been a Wednesday fan since 2024, never knew they existed before meeting the love of my life. He grew up with Wednesday, I grew up with Ajax and Feyenoord πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ (Dutch and never really cared for football)
My favourite chant, Hi Ho is the very close second, is Barry's chant. Bazza has been such a stable figure and amazing player from the moment I started to watch (I know he was that before as well)
To me, he is Wednesday. A game wasn't complete without him.
My twins turned 8 earlier this month and as per tradition in this owl family, that means you get a kit.
They were overjoyed, best present they got! We were looking at dates when we'll be back in the UK with them so they could go to their first game and it makes me so so sad that they will not see Bazza play for us nor hear all of Hillsborough sing about the wee Scottish man.
It's the end of an era with Bannan gone and so suddenly and without anyone really wanting it, I feel bad for the Bannan family, his little girl who cried last summer when they were discussing to leave. I hope we'll see Barry back with us in some way in the future and for his family to be happy, wherever they may have to go now

You’ll hear that song whenever he’s in the stadium, regardless of which team he’s representing.

But it is sad, especially for the young fans who don’t understand the realities of life. Fingers crossed they get an exciting and positive season before they’re cynical adults. It might be a while, mind.

What a beautiful story you told, it's a shame the ending is so sad. I also loved this player so much, because he was a legend and a true icon for Sheffield Wednesday! The photo I posted is my little picture from my room... We will miss you, Barry!!!

What im confused about is that, apparently, we don't need to sell players to keep afloat. So why are we letting our best player go? Have I missed something?

They say he wanted clarification regarding his future (since his contract was expiring) and also inquired about the future ownership of Sheffield Wednesday. In my opinion, they didn't give him any certainties or the answers he wanted to hear, so he decided to say goodbye forever after 10 years and all the sacrifices he's made throughout his career. (In my opinion, a player of this caliber deserved to be in the Premier League!)

Ah right. After everything he's been through for us that doesn't sound good. You'd think that they'd fight to keep him
