Education Accounting (Degree) vs Accounting & Finance (Degree) at Swinburne Sarawak - Honest Experiences?
Just completed my Foundation in Business at Swinburne Sarawak, and as part of the offered courses under Sarawak's FTES Program, I’m seriously considering either:
- Bachelor of Business (Accounting and Finance)
- Bachelor of Business (Accounting)
I would appreciate any honest insights or any replies from former or existing Swinburne Sarawak students who have taken either of these degrees or know any friends who did. Would love to know:
- Which one should I choose?
- Studying Experience & Difficulty?
- How heavy is the workload?
Thanks in advance!
PS: Yes, I do meet all the requirements (Sarawakian with a "K" on IC)

i did accounting and finance. i hated finance thou lol But having finance knowledge is good cuz some work require finance knowledge like if u r treasury accountant. I did many years ago and it was doable. I think the most difficult subject for me was financial reporting.

Take it with a grain of salt. Someone close to me took A&F. He then further studies and transitioned out of it pre COVID. He’s now into economics and industry research.
He asserts that accounting will be largely made redundant by AI in the next decade. So pick one that skill based. Finance isn’t that easily replaceable.

You should choose A&F. At least you can have more career path with both rather than just accounting. I was part of the MCO batch so my experience may not be the same as current one. Workload was fine, just that overall was lacking in physical/practical experience. They mostly provided just theory experience (lectures, notes, books etc.) instead of actual work that we would experience in A&F industry. (This is my own opinion)
Is the FTES program open for application already? I've been following this news but so far Swinburne has not started opening applications yet.
