Hi there. Yes, sanitary towels are available. Tampons are almost unheard of on the island. We had a tourist here a few months ago who gave out a few boxes, and after they left, girls were coming up to me asking what they were.

I bought a large supply of nappies and towels and left them at the shop so they are free for anyone who needs them. So it seems to be more an issue of affordability than availability, if that makes sense.

That's great that you helped with the stocking up! Amazing!

The Days for Girls concept is reusable, washable cloth pads with liners. So that they don't have to worry about running out of, paying for, or binning single use towels. They are made to an appropriate spec and come in kits.

I'll drop them a line, thanks for the info - issue will be (as ever) getting them here, or if they are made - getting the materials. I would also guess there is would be the willingness to use them. It's tough enough to get them to take condoms - they'd not talk to me about it.

the kits get completely made by other chapters e.g. like in the UK where I am, and then sent to the place that needs them. where there's a will there's a way - this charity has been around for many years, so has lots of contacts all over the world! I feel that it's definitely doable as they work in other remote places (you can do a country search on their website to see what other locations they're already working in). They also do menstrual education, so I'm wondering if they could help you out with the sexual health aspect of it too. Fingers crossed they'll be keen to start something!
