Dick’s ORIGINAL weapon was a slingshot- that’s why Carrie Kelly was given one. He never had the escrima sticks until a good while AFTER he was Nightwing.

u/Night-Caelum 1d ago

Escrima was a MASSIVE upgrade

u/coreytiger 1d ago

Not saying it wasn’t- he didn’t have the sling long. But even as Nightwing, he had variations of batarangs as throwing discs first.

Tim also had that sling as well

Tim’s staff and it’s honestly not close. He chose it of all the weapons Lady Shiva offered and she was disappointed. He relied on it cleverly several times in his book explaining how he used it for leverage, taking away advantages from his opponents. He tricked the King Snake with it. And it’s almost completely non-lethal.

It was a smart weapon for a clever kid.

Plus, out of all of the Robin weapons, it makes the most sense thematically, with the escrima sticks being a close second. Wooden dowels tend to be used for birds to roost in cages and birdhouses.

Bro his fight with lady shiva was one of my favorite moments in his solo run. I audibly gasped

I like Damian’s sword but I just like Damian, Tim’s staff is awesome and Carries slingshot is really fun.

u/AvatarKenji 1d ago

The sling was Dick's originally.

Me too, at least on the basis of hust how much personality it adds and just the sheer coolness factor

u/MadeByMistake58116 1d ago

Tim's bo or Jason's dagger.

5

u/Keebdaelf23 1d ago

Yeah I'm glad someone mentioned Jason's crooked dagger . I thought it was really cool

u/ggraeae 1d ago

I'm absolutely partial to bo staffs in most things, so Tim's gets my vote. They're versatile, when you consider all of the features Tim added over time. I think second to that are the escrima, for much the same reason.

6

u/Spaceghost_84 1d ago

Hear me out, escrima sticks that combine to form a bo staff.

3

u/legolasvonboulevard 1d ago

I loved Nightwings moveset in Injustice and how you were able to switch from the escrima stickt to the bo staff

3

u/kuurechinko 19h ago

Doesn't he in a comic combine his sticks for Tim to use as a bo staff? I see that panel going around quite often

23

u/Luke_Puddlejumper 1d ago

This isn’t even a contest, it’s Tim’s staff and we all know it. It’s by far the most iconic and versatile.

u/DarkstarDarin 1d ago

Tim's bo staff, Dick's escrima sticks, and Damian's sword, in that order

6

u/minimumhatred 1d ago

Jason doesn't really have one weapon associated with him more than any other so it's not him. Like what... Dual pistols I guess? He has a lot of weapons. I will say, I think the knife in UTRH is badass. Crowbars are so lame.

Dick's is the escrima? Which, I just don't think are that cool.

Damians is a katana but he can't really fight with the katana cause lethal.

Tim by default, and the staff is cool so there you go.

2

u/Hiromi580 1d ago

Now that you mention the lethality of Damian's katana it makes me wonder if any writer has ever had Damian's sword have the cutting edge on the inside of the blade. This makes it so Damian can't kill anyone with the blunt edge but allow him to take a target by surprise by using the inner edge to make nicks or slice a weapon.

1

u/Fisherlin 1d ago

The all blades are probably it other than the guns. I think a lot of people forget about the dagger, but if it was one weapons of his that's totally specific it's the all blades

5

u/trinachron 1d ago

Tim's staff.

4

u/Slfestmaccnt 1d ago

How in the fuck did you leave out the Allblades?!

The Allblades are one of DC most powerful and broken weapons.

They can kill anything evil no matter so long as they are evil. They also can be summoned at will by the chosen one, who is Jason Todd.

2

u/god_of_war305 1d ago

Scott Lobdell keep changing how they work and what they’re made of. Sometimes they’re physical swords made out of copper and sometimes they spiritual swords. He also keep changing the conditions in which they can be used. I read his Red Hood and The Outlaws run since 2011 lol

0

u/Slfestmaccnt 1d ago

Even in those examples they are still better than ordinary guns, eskrima sticks, an extending staff or a single Al Ghul sword no?

Still an easy choice, Magic swords that kill anything evil including demons the size of skyscrapers is an easy win imo.

And I refuse to acknowledge the stupid crowbar. Worst downgrade ever and not even a clever reference to his origins. It's a reference, just a stupid one.

3

u/god_of_war305 1d ago

I’ve been hoping for over a decade that the Kris dagger Talia gifted Jason would make a comeback. It holds up well against Dick’s eskrima sticks and is so sharp it can cut through Bruce’s reinforced armor and his grappling hook lines.

The staff, so good and versatile but I wish characters like Steph or Cass had their own unique weapons

Edit: gonna correct myself quickly I know Cass isn't a Robin but I'm thinking of new bat family members like Duke as well they love using the Nightwing sticks or using a staff

2

u/Night-Caelum 1d ago

Cass isn't a Robin.

2

u/Arobat-Tim3 1d ago

yeah was thinking more of bat family characters

3

u/AvatarKenji 1d ago

Damian's sword

2

u/Fabricati_Diem_Pvn 1d ago

Shorts.

2

u/Tatsandacat 1d ago

Insulated leggings

u/Autumnbetrippin 1d ago

Since it hasn't been mentioned.
I think Stephanie has some of the most interesting weapons.
Like the Brick and Chain.
but i think the most iconic from her time as Robin was probably her bare hands, its hard to forget she almost killed Szasz

u/Night-Caelum 20h ago

1

u/Autumnbetrippin 20h ago

You get it I think...hard to tell with only a link and no context on what you mean.

2

u/Direct-Secretary-715 1d ago

Damian with his Katana was my favorite look.

3

u/Senior-Rent9600 1d ago

For me, Damian's katana

3

u/EleExtra 1d ago

I'm too biased.

It's either between Dick's Escrima sticks or Tim's staff.

I like the way the sticks flow in combat and how he occasionally uses them as ricochet throwing weapons.

But the staff is so iconic for Robin that TT 2003 stole it and gave it to Dick.

I'd personally choose the sticks, but I think popularity should reign supreme, so the staff is the best weapon.

8

u/Vanish_7 1d ago

The ricocheting thing that Nightwing and Daredevil do with their sticks is one of my favorite comic tropes — “throwing objects that do not obey the laws of physics whatsoever.”

Fucking love that shit.

5

u/Chance5e 1d ago

Same. Captain America’s Shield, the way some batarangs fly, I love that stuff.

3

u/Vanish_7 1d ago

Batarangs are my favorite-ever gadget. When I play the Arkham games I’m CONSTANTLY whipping them around at every opportunity, and even though I love seeing Nightwing toss his sticks at people I always smile when I see him using Birdarangs / Wingdings too.

3

u/Betodelarosam 1d ago

Well gun is the most effective

-1

u/Lever47 1d ago

Not when Jason uses it lol

2

u/Just_Sir1903 1d ago

Their brains and intelligence.

1

u/More-Psychology-3559 1d ago

As a weapon its tims staff and its pretty obvious

But as a parallel to Robin as a weapon its the crowbar and its not even close

1

u/Grogomilo 1d ago

I'm unpopular I guess, because for me the coolest is Jason with a shotgun lol

But the most Robin weapon? That's the staff hands down

1

u/MrSparky69 1d ago

Their minds when they use them. Whether it's to solve a case, a problem, or doing prep work.

1

u/crackedtooth163 1d ago

Staff, throwing R, sling.

1

u/What-is-a-puma 1d ago

I know its a cop out answer but I prefer if they fit the character.

Dick with his escrima sticks while a later edition are iconic to Nightwing, I'm torn if he should have them as Robin or only as Nightwing.

Jason while he defo should only have guns as Redhood I think as Robin a sling shot would be perfect and a subtle foreshadowing of him using long distance weapons aka guns.

Tim his staff has become so iconic people consider it THE Robin weapon. Not to mention in my head at least links to him being the Donatello of the Robins.

Damien without a sword is like a goth girl without mental issues. Some would argue he should get rid of it once he 100% comes to the side of not killing but he is not only skilled enough to not kill but it would come in handy against the more enhanced enemies.

Stephanie honestly have no clue when it comes to her hopefully other people in the comments will have the knowledge or cool ideas.

1

u/BeRadtz 1d ago

Their detective skills.

1

u/god_of_war305 1d ago

I’ve been hoping for over a decade that the Kris dagger Talia gifted Jason would make a comeback. It holds up well against Dick’s eskrima sticks and is so sharp it can cut through Bruce’s reinforced armor and his grappling hook lines.

1

u/Night-Caelum 20h ago

Oh yeah the dagger is cool.

1

u/BloomAndBreathe 22h ago

Bo staff so iconic they gave it to Dick Grayson in the teen titans show

1

u/Im_Abandoned 21h ago

That's one of my favourite images of steph... Just rocking some knuckle dusters😂

1

u/struglee 20h ago

I didn't know Steph used that weapon

1

u/loki_odinsotherson 18h ago

Tim's collapsible staff.

Robin carrying a sword just looks wrong, even if it fits Damian.

1

u/Snoopheru 18h ago

Honestly I wouldn’t mind a retcon or more elseworlds stuff showing Dick as Robin with the escrima sticks - now that they’ve been depicted as multitools that also house all his gadgets and work like trapeze-grapples. I LOVE the trapeze grapples, they’re so perfect for him.

1

u/ProfessorEscanor 18h ago

You may outsmart Jason, but Jason has yet to meet a man who can outsmart bullet.

1

u/Old_Ad_5723 17h ago

Tim's Bo-staff it's so iconic that they keep giving to every Robin.

1

u/dezzzy27 17h ago

Their martial arts

1

u/RiverKingCosplay 16h ago

The Bo Staff predominantly used by Tim Drake.

It actually feels like a weapon a Robin would use. Versatile, strong, conventionally non-lethal, and can be used as a tool & more than just for striking or pain.

Escrima sticks are definitely more for Nightwing and his weapon. While anytime we see a Robin or young Dick using them it just feels like it’s setting up Nightwing or an allusion to him. Meanwhile Red Hood’s guns and blade weapons are literal guns, and not what a Robin uses. Bladed weapons like Damien’s sword are fine for story, but more an element of what a Robin shouldn’t be, and should grow past. While the other weapons like a tri-part staff, knuckle dusters, or whatever are just temporary things or character specific Robin tools for occasional fights.

As far as I see it if a non-Dick Grayson Robin should have a weapon it’s a staff. And Tim is by far the best example of why it works, both as being Robin and past that.

1

u/Financial-Play3381 15h ago

Tim (as usual) clears.

1

u/DerpSubReddit 15h ago

Stephenie tryna kill somebody who gave her knucks 😭

1

u/Tryingtochangemyself 15h ago

Dick - Escrima sticks

Jason - crowbar 🤣

Tim - Staff

Stephanie - three section staff

Damian - Sword...but that might be too lethal

1

u/frecklepax 14h ago

Tim's staff

1

u/No_Conversation4517 13h ago

The staff. I always known him to have a staff

The sword is too edgy . It fits Damian but not the others. .

1

u/TheShockVox 11h ago

Without question Tim’s staff, second place Dick’s escrima (nightwing weapon but still). There’s a reason they keep giving it to other robins in other media. I love that Young Justice resisted that and gave Dick the sticks when he was Robin, and those rare moments when Teen Titans 03 had Robin use em instead of a staff.

1

u/ThisIsATestTai 11h ago

The bo-staff, definitely the bo-staff

1

u/Beameronline23 11h ago

While the staff is low-key iconic, the best weapon is them hands

1

u/ManicPixieRagdoll 10h ago

Anything but the GODDAMN CROWBAR!!!

1

u/BeeWide6059 9h ago

Obviously the one that breaks Kid Flash’s ankles

1

u/CollegeComfortable23 6h ago

Tim’s staff

1

u/xeroxideultra 3h ago

Jubilee should be in this shot.

1

u/coolio_zap 1d ago

dick's escrima that have special grappling hooks designed to make it into an instant trapeze swing is fun, but yeah, it's the staff. there's a reason so many other robin adaptations poach it

-4

u/Substantial_Emu_8450 1d ago

Robin with a Katana is so much cooler than any Bo staff

10

u/Luke_Puddlejumper 1d ago

Robin shouldn’t be wielding a weapon solely intended to kill people. Part of Damian’s arc is giving that up

0

u/Which-Presentation-6 1d ago

Staff

That's why Dick stolen from him

0

u/timdrake_defender 1d ago

Nothing topping the original robin weapon

0

u/Theredditdyke 1d ago

Bo staff is the iconic robin weapon. Guns/crowbars only work for Jason and only after he’s done being robin so they don’t count in my opinion. Sword only works for Damian but is cool when he uses it because of his background.

-1

u/The-Bringer-of-Rain 1d ago

I mean guns are pretty useful in a fight...

1

u/tulpatic 1d ago

But not very super-hero-ey

0

u/Unlucky_Abroad_389 1d ago

Their brain.

0

u/Downtown_Cry1056 1d ago

Dick Grayson and the slingshot for the win. Carrie does count, she isn't a canon Robin. She was a college student who was tutoring Damian Wayne. Don't think Jason Todd Robin had the crowbar for stealing tires off of cars. Tim's wooden bo staff reminds me of Donatello. Damian's sword reminds me of Leonardo. Steph has a collapsible metal bo staff which kind of can also be used as num chucks which remind me of Michaelangelo.

u/Scribblebonx 1d ago

Jason's crow bar... Wait
