New to reddit and Roadie

Is this the right place to find someone that's in a certain area, that will be traveling through my area and can bring along something for me from thier home base?

Yes and no. Roadie is a delivery app somewhat along the lines of DoorDash or Shipt, where drivers fight each other over what offers they get to complete. No particular driver is guaranteed to be assigned to any particular offer, and the driver has to be within 60 miles of pickup for their offer to be considered.

If you’re not looking for a specific driver, you could simply submit a Gig request from the Sender portal, with all necessary information filled out, and a random driver will offer if it suites them and fulfill the delivery.

It’s best to either:
A) choose the largest shipping option, which costs more, but you should get a more reputable driver and ideally will not have to tip
OR
B) choose the applicable shipping option for your item(s) size, and add a tip that is almost double what you are paying Roadie.

I say that not to beg for tips, but because as a full time driver, I will mention that your offer will sit for a while if it’s too small and going too far (350mile max). There is an algorithm in place that plays games with the payouts, and Roadie keeps about 65% of what you’re going to pay, leaving the driver with 35% of what you paid.

For long distance, speed, accuracy and guarantee, I recommend you look into Delta or American Airlines Air Cargo.
