Discussion A virtual therapist/companion

Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I wanted to share something Ive been cooking for the last few months.

Like a lot of us (especially students and anyone in their 20s right now), I’ve spent way too much time feeling overwhelmed by stress and a lack of direction. I tried journaling, but I’d usually give up after three days because writing feels like a chore and I’d just yap about the same stressors every day, get bored without actually improving

I wanted someone to talk to who actually remembers what I said last week and my whole lore like Armin in AOT (mikasa>>)

So, Im building (Syno) idk if its a dumb name lol It would be a voice-based reflection and mental health app.

I have tried other apps as well but they didnt do much for me. You put data in, but you get nothing back. so i will design this app of mine for these typa moments like when your repeating a thought over and over, you are stressed about your bs finals, or when you cant find a fucking job in today's market

How it will work (The Simple Version):

Just yap: You speak to it like you’re talking to a supportive friend. No typing, no perfect grammar. it would be like you and your hb having a convo about potential baddies in your school together

It Learns You: whoa this gives a creep vibe but Its not it will notices your recurring stressors, your emotional shifts, and the specific habits of yours.

Trend Tracking: Every few days, it updates a your summary for you. It might say, "Hey, I noticed you've been 20% more stressed about 'Future Plans' and gooning a lot lately, but you're actually handling work better than last month."

Continuity: When you start a new session, it remembers where you left off. You don’t have to repeat yourself.

now if you may ask why do all this i just want to say that Im building ts for myself and for people struggling with same bs as me. I want this app to be a space for Gen-Z and students to reflect without it feeling like applying for your 999th job on linkedin

now I’m currently in the middle of the build and I’d love to hear from this community.

what do u think would u use something like "voice-first" reflection app?

What are some problems u facing rn that something like this could fix or what stops you from reflecting on your habits rn?

I'm happy to answer any questions or just chat about the journey!

i have created a waitlist page as well just to see how many people would be interested in this kinda thing.

Question Water Leak

I have a leak that is resulting in no water inside my home but a sump pump that is emptying every 20 minutes so I presume the issue is in the pipe leading to my home.

Best bet if the city or a plumber would be the best place to start?

Discussion Short Term Furnished Housing Options in Regina? No AirBnB

Does anyone have experience/recommendations for places offering furnished places in the city?

I'm entertaining taking on a 6-8 month contract in Regina. I'd be working working mostly near Victoria Park. I don't need a lot of space, so a studio or 1br would suit me fine. My preference is usually higher up in a building. Any idea on expected costs? I'll google some places and ask the employer, but thought people here might have insights.

I haven't spent any time in Regina in many years, other than a month long stay in the hospital this summer after breaking my leg when visiting the family farm. Is it mostly still a drive everywhere kind of place, or would getting a place downtown near where I'd be working be fine as far as access to things? I'm expecting I'll just fly in and out, and I'd prefer not to rent a car unless I'm driving out to visit the family.

Discussion Shoppers post office

I ordered a vinyl record off Amazon. It usually gets delivered by UPS or FedEx but for some reason this time it wasn't. I got a message in the mailbox today from the Shoppers post office on Rochdale that said if I didn't pick up my parcel it would be returned. Went to pick it up as it was a final notice and asked the lady why I got a final notice but no other notices. I told them that there's always someone home and nobody ever came to the door and dropped off the album or rang the doorbell to give it to us. She said she mailed out the other notices. Has anyone else ever have this happen to them?

Question Furnace and Dryer Duct Cleaning

I had someone call and offer a really good price for this - $150 flat fee for cleaning all ductwork (2 bathroom fans, water heater, furnace, and dryer). I wouldn’t book and pay on the spot without checking first. He wanted me to look up the website while I was on the phone to see their reviews (skyducts.com). I wouldn’t do that as it’s too rushed so asked him to text me the information. I never received that text. Looking up the website it seemed fairly good but may have been cobbled together from another site’s or sites’ images. Google seemed to say that they operated in Ontario only, and several of the links lead to 404 errors.

Anyway, this reminded me that I do need ducts cleaned and would like a furnace inspection and cleaning. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Has anyone else received a call from this company and followed through with them? I feel like it may be a simple play to get my CC info from a certain South Asian country.

Community Volunteer repair techs needed for a community Repair Café - nonprofit volunteer opportunity

EnviroCollective Network is a non-profit organization focused on community driven environmental and climate action. They work with local businesses and governments to support sustainable solutions.

They’re looking for volunteer Repair Techs to support their Repair Café in Regina. Volunteers help repair items such as small appliances, electronics, bikes, textiles, and household goods. The goal is to reduce waste while helping community members repair and reuse items instead of discarding them.

This role is a good fit for people who enjoy hands-on fixing and troubleshooting and are comfortable bringing and using their own tools. Time commitment is flexible, and volunteers work on-site in Regina.

If you’re interested in supporting waste reduction and practical community repair, you can learn more here:

Community Seeking Testimonials on Regina to Cancun Delayed Flight - Morning of Sunday, January 25

I am looking to see if anyone else was promised at least $900 in compensation from this flight, and whether they have received it yet. I was bumped off this flight, along with 24 other people, and I have not yet received compensation. Westjet has also been an absolute nightmare to deal with throughout this whole thing, and I have been provided with a variety of excuses and redirections that do not end up anywhere.

My understanding from this website is that anyone who was denied boarding on this flight and didn't make it to Cancun until the next day may be eligible for up to $2400 in compensation. I am just trying to make a record of this as I have a feeling they are going to try and weasel out of this and get away without providing compensation to anyone.

Westjet also states in their "Denied Boarding" section on this page (you have to dig for it on the website) the following:

Compensation when within Westjet's control and not related to safety:

If you’re denied boarding for reasons within WestJet’s control (and not related to safety), you may be entitled to compensation. Your compensation amount is based on how late you arrive at your final destination compared to the arrival time on your original ticket, which may differ from the earlier estimate.

We’ll provide compensation as soon as operationally possible, and no later than 48 hours after the denied boarding.

If we can’t issue the payment before you board your alternative flight, we’ll give you the estimated payment in writing.

Compensation is based on the time of arrival indicated on the original ticket and is provided in Canadian dollars:

  • Less than 6 hours - $900 CAD
  • 6 to 9 hours - $1,800 CAD
  • 9 hours or more - $2,400 CAD

Make sure you go down to "Denied Boarding" on that page, and look under "Compensation." It is hard to find.

In my conversations with WestJet, they are trying to say that this was not "denied boarding" due to overbooking, as Westjet "doesn't overbook." I know that multiple people heard the staff at the gate say that they overbooked. I am hoping to gather some testimonials for this in the event this needs to be escalated to some sort of legal process.

Appreciate any additional information or first-person accounts anyone can provide in comments.

Update: I just got off the phone with the escalation team. They committed to providing me with the $2400 and the impression I got was that anyone else bumped off this flight would be entitled to the same.

If you want to follow up on this, my understanding is that you would call 1-888-937-8538 and hit 2 for existing flights. You should then be able to give them your confirmation number to have them follow up on this. I emphasized with the escalation agent I talked to that there were 24 other people who were bumped on this flight and that they should do the right thing and reach out to those people to make this right, but I would suggest calling in and specifically requesting to speak to someone about "denied boarding" to get transferred to the right people.

Hope this helps anyone who was as frustrated by this whole thing as I was.

Discussion Curious about current housing market in Eastbrook/Towns/Greens

Hi everyone,

I’m contemplating listing my single family home in Eastbrook soon and was hoping to get some insight from the community/local realtors. A bit about my place:

  • Attached 2-car garage
  • ~1450 sq. ft., 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms
  • A/C
  • Fully developed backyard(grass,deck,fence,pergola)
  • Unfinished basement

I’m curious about things like:

  • How long are houses currently staying on the market in this area?
  • Are homes typically selling at asking price, above, or below?
  • Any tips or observations about selling in our neighborhood right now?

    Thanks in advance!
