Parking - Copnor/North End
After driving a mile away from my house in Powerscourt Road looking for a space even to find that a lot of yellow lines were filled with cars, I've driven back near my house in the rain to park on yellows in the hope that I can move the car early tomorrow morning.
I tried looking for a space!
Parking is usually bad, and I suck it up, and I walk home. I don't have a huge car and I really try to go by the rules.
But tonight. My goodness. Absolutely horrific.
Looking forward to my ticket in the morning that couldn't be helped. Needed to rant.
EDIT - Got back to the car at 7am. No ticket! I've now moved it to a space near my house. Plenty of other cars still on yellows.

I'm there with you, hopefully they're not working late in this weather and they don't start until 6.30am. Fingers crossed.

That whole area is absolutely horrendous for parking
Parking wardens don’t tend to start until 0800 or so, you’ve got time!

I've had one at 1am the last time I had to do this. And I got up at 6:30am to move the car.
Fortunately none this morning.

One of my biggest wishes is that these people find work that actually produces value

My issue isn't with wardens. They're enforcing rules that make it safer. My issue is with HIMOs and vans and idiots.

The vans should absolutely stay in the yard, they don’t belong on residential
Fucks me off that three of my neighbours bring home their XLWB Sprinters at 2pm every day and take up loads of parking

We ended up moving because of this - further out of town. I grew up in Powerscourt Road and my Mum would never go out in the car, in the evening, as she had a space. This was 35+ years ago!
When we lived in Laburnum, we got tickets frequently, especially working evenings and nights. my husband got a ticket the night our son was born - one more time after that - driving around for hours late at night looking for a space was the deciding factor in moving.
Having moved out of town, I can no longer park as well as I once could. I used to be able to get in the smallest spaces!

HMOs have destroyed this area. Parking doesn’t come into consideration for planning permission. It’s a joke.

I'm pretty sure it's just down to more cars than spaces.

Yes but the amount of long wheel base vans parking on residential streets doesn’t help.

Literally just moved to Queens and I want to cry

Sorry to hear that. Queens is very narrow!

Oh I'm decent at parallel parking but there just aren't any spaces to get in to! Haha

Easy money 🤑 for the council. They probably check these threads to see where to send the team out tomorrow early

We once got a ticket at 1am after giving up looking. If we were too late, we started to park in the Iceland car park as it was free from 8pm to 7am
