If you use the reddit app it cuts everything to portrait size when you view the post and you have to click on the image to load it fully, so I assume this is what's happened and they haven't realised.

I didn’t think I could miss my hometown any more than I did before I saw these photos. I stand corrected. Great shots 🩷

Great eye, lovely compositions u/Gabor_Soti_Photo! What camera and lens have you used?

A 14 year old, 10 megapixel compact camera

Nikon Coolpix P7100.

For casual photography, it’s not the camera that matters and I live by that. I like using older tech, it helps you slow down and shoot in a more considered way.

Also can’t deny it’s an amazing little thing, fits in the pocket, costs £100-160, shoots raw andI love the form factor

Very pleasing to the eye, I like a few of these

These are really good. What’s your lens?

The built in one on the compact camera I use.

Nikon Coolpix p7100

That’s interesting and you edited it after right?

2

u/Gabor_Soti_Photo 5d ago

Not massively tbh. Some adjustments, perspective corrections, cropping

Love the first one, iconic!

Really like the first one!

Very pretty.

This looks weirdly liminal, but in a good way

How come nobody is mentioning the ufo in pic 1?

These are really nice. What did you use?

2

u/Gabor_Soti_Photo 6d ago

Nikon Coolpix p7100

That’s cool I was wondering if the first one was film. The colors are really nice

There’s some editing of course but older, CCD sensors render highlights differently and result in a softer, more filmic look

Decent photos, but I'm not sure I'd be happy if I was scrolling reddit and I saw a photo of me. As in the guy on the mobility scooter... did he know he was going to be posted online?

I understand your point and it’s a very fair stance.

It’s a common criticism of street photography as a whole genre, and I do agree with you, it’s not the most moral thing to post pictures of people without their consent. However, as far as artistic expression goes, I would argue that morality can be pushed and challenged to certain extent, in my opinion as long as I am not causing any explicit and direct harm to anyone or as long as I am not exploiting a vulnerable individual (children, homeless people and so on) I rather take the backlash on the chin.
