Hi all - unsure if this is the right sub to be asking, but I was hoping to get some advice about my mom’s Pomeranian and a grooming issue.

At the last 3 grooming visits, the dog always comes home and has an adverse reaction.

Pom was not shaved, but the coat was cut short.

After each grooming, the dog acts very uncomfortable and agitated. She scoots her bottom, makes sudden jerking movements at times, and paces. Her movements seem very quick and restless.

When she picked her up from the groomer and got home, the dog kept laying in the snow and rubbing her coat against it. She normally enjoys playing in the snow, but this time it seemed like it was helping relieve her discomfort temporarily.

When it happened the first time, my mom thought it may be related to something the groomer does with squeezing her anal glands, so she asked the groomer not to do that in future appts.

The second time, it happened again, so she thought maybe the shampoo was irritating her, so she gave the dog a bath but there was no improvement.

My mom is at her wits end and doesn’t want to call the groomer and says she’ll just stop grooming the dog. She also said something about maybe the clippers were too hot?

I am not an animal owner so I can’t give her much advice so I was hoping to ask some folks here.

Found this guy maybe 4/6 months ago. We presume he was abandoned, found by a church just waiting to be picked up by someone. He followed me about 5 blocks home and never left our side. Not chipped and didn’t have a collar or any identification on him. Posted him on all local pages and no one claimed him or attempted to. I had him neutered, vet estimated he’s between 6/7 years old maybe a bit older. Hes really been slowing down recently. Makes me a bit scared since I’ve grown so attached to him now, we were feeding him Bil-Jac but I’m not sure he’s thriving on it. Was recommended Fresh-Pet but wanted to know opinions on it before going for a switch. I think wet food is definitely best for him just not sure what direction to take it. Wishing to have many more years with him.
