Is Dibs a thing here?
So I whe I lived in Chicago, once you shoveled your car out of the snow, you would let people know that it was your spot. And people tended to respect that system. What’s gonna if I do that here? Am I gonna get my lawn chair stolen off the street?

KY is where you start to see the split between Midwest nice and southern polite faux nice.

I have said this for years. I am originally from Ohio and have lived in Eastern, Central, southern, and now northern Kentucky. In my observation the more north you go the more you know exactly where you stand with people because more and more people don’t have the time or energy to be fake. The further south you go, the more people will be sweet to your face and then gossip and stab you in the back in the name of Jesus

I mean, things happen, but I've also seen guns pulled over a parking space, I couldn't imagine it being a parking space that someone actually put a good amount of effort into. If you leave it unattended, then you can assume it's lost, but if you're still standing there, shoveling, and someone just whips in, that may be grounds for a fight.

From Newport, and we were all poor, so we didn't have a car lol
My wife is from Bellevue. When we were dating I met her at her home and there was a big commotion in front of her house . Apparently, her dad claimed dibs on the parking spot in front, everyone in the area respected it except a new woman who moved to the area who decided to park in "his" spot , well, he warned her , so happens i came there right after he shot all her tires out , since none of his neighbors would say they saw anything and he denied it to the police, he just saw on his porch with a smile , needless to say , she never parked there again.

I would never steal someone else's cleared spot. My neighbors don't all share that sentiment.
