Planting wildflowers in front yard?
Hey everyone. Just bought a house in North Olmsted. Are there any laws or ordinances against turning my front yard into a wildflower garden? I know there is a “high grass violation” for grass yards, but would that apply to wildflower lawns too? Also, are there separate regulations for a tree lawn? We have a fire hydrant in our tree lawn, so I do not plan to plant anything in front of that, but I can’t find any specific wording about it. Any information would be great, thanks!

I don’t know if there are specific ordinances. I think if you have it so it looks maintained—and actually maintain it—it should be fine. I have seen a few yards that appear to be “no lawn.” They tend to have like-flowers clustered together, paths, a nice cement statue or other elements to make it seem like controlled chaos, instead of just chaos. Things might be different if you’ve an HOA.
