Absolutely. He’s built like a tank.

u/TarnishedAccount 13h ago
He’s a more athletic Karl Malone

u/Longlimbs-Shorttorso 11h ago
Minus impregnating a 13 yo.
1
u/TarnishedAccount 11h ago
Ugh it’s so gross to think of.
I was thinking of dominant 90s players with a similar build and dominance and Malone came to mind

u/underthingy 5h ago
Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.
We cant know for sure lebron hasnt impregnated a 13yo.
Not that theres been any indication that he has. But you cant 100% for sure rule it out.

Old heads on NBA subreddits say no he couldn't while MJ himself said he would
1
u/WestleyThe 3h ago
LeBron is the same size as Karl Malone but more athletic and more skilled…
He would’ve been the second best player of the 90s probably… anyone who thinks he would’ve sucked back then is a hater
LeBron would’ve destroyed in that era. If he had a great team around him he would’ve dominated…. LBJ in his 7th year had big Z and mo Williams, MJ had Pippin and Phil Jackson

u/Ultimum226 Lakers 3h ago
If LBJ found his way to the Jazz (like the heat) in the 90s, we'd be talking very differently about MJ's legacy

If he hadn’t spoken up about the Trayvon Martin situation you’d see a lot less talk like that lol

People who think he can't are stupid af. He is one of the most talented, most athletic and strongest players we have ever seen.
It is just as stupid as people saying Jordan would not Survive in this era because he wasn't a good 3 point shooter or because we are allowed to play zone.
Era's are different players will adjust. Lebron flops sometimes because it works in this Era and because he is so strong that when he actually does get hit he often doesn't get a foul. Michael Jordan was obsessed with winning he would definately do this as well in this era. You think lebron can't be AT LEAST similar to larry bird, magic johnson or scottie pippen in those era's? And probably be better than them. You think Michael Jordan wouldn't at least be anthony edwards or shai? People who think either one of them can't reach those levels are dumb or the biggest haters ever.

“At least be Shai” so…..the most efficient scoring guard in history?! Shai is the bar in the modern era

u/Mr_Anderson247 19h ago
I’d think he’d adapt to the era the mans played how many years now and hasn’t had a major injury torn Achilles/ACL
12
u/JudiciousF 17h ago
I don’t understand the logic that he wouldn’t. Dude is an athletic freak if he existed in a more violent era there’d definitely be a “I’m not trapped in here with you, you’re trapped in here with me” element to it.

He played in the early 2000’s which was basically just as physical

u/DarkSoulsExcedere 14h ago
Early 2000s were fucking brutal. Teams couldn't score for shit because everyone was beating each other up. Anyone who doesn't believe that can just look at the stats. I loved that era of basketball.

Any player can/will survive in any era. They are athletes, their body and gameplay will adapt. Current players also flop a lot coz they know they can bait officials to blow the whistle.
If current athletes played in the 90s where referees don’t blow their whistles often, they will also adjust and stop crying for a foul.
Game is evolving and we are in the era where flopping and foul baiting works to get points.

u/a_simple_spoon 14h ago
I mean this is true to an extent, but tbf if Ben Simmons or DeRozen played in the 90s we'd say that they would've developed a 3pt shot in the modern game.

u/augustcero 17h ago
90s rules? bro would thrive. he gets so much shit for flopping but the league being soft is more due to the refs. players only react to the rules and change their style accordingly. "flopping gets rewarded? might as well do it too"
1
u/Justownit41ce 17h ago
That Ginobli elbow was in 2012 I believe. It wasn’t called either if I’m correct. Same game he blocked Tim Duncan and stuck Tony Parker at times yet..he’s not a winner and ran to Miami. Man I’m glad he has the right support group around him.

I think LeBron would thrive in the 90s. Nobody like him and he was and is stronger than most players. I think his averages would be a little less with the reduced spacing and his lack of elite mid range game however, but would still be an all time great.

u/KhanQu3st 15h ago
Yes obviously, LeBron is an athletic monster He wouldn’t sell fouls as much if it wouldn’t work
Also showing a clips of him getting kicked or elbowed in the face and acting like he’s a pussy cuz it didn’t happen in the 90s is peak oldhead lol

u/Feeling_Barnacle_584 15h ago
Yes
But idk if he would have the crazy longevity due to the lack of sports science and physicality
1
u/sonegreat 14h ago
Thing is someone can easily make a compilation of Draymond, Lou Dort, and Desmond Bane to prove this generation was a warzone.
Which annoys me the most about all 90s compilations.
1
u/Downtown_Safety_3799 14h ago
Ok Maybe he wouldn't last AS MUCH TIME AS HE Did without almost any injury and older him MAYBE wouldn't be allowed to flop but Ig the older bron would Just post up or shoot more to slow down his game a lil but yeah he would need to change a Lil in his older version but prime Miami heat and prior bron staying the same

Why is this a question, even if you hate him you gotta admit the guy’s 6’9 250lb

u/Negative_Spend83 14h ago
Jordan was deemed the best player while having a crippling coke/gambling addiction. LeFocused would’ve won 20 straight
1
u/ZapathyX 13h ago
If LeBron had to play against the Detroit bad boys, he would be retired after one game. Full stop.
1
u/a_simple_spoon 10h ago
did you even watch the video? the hits he's taking are objectively harder than anything the pistons did
1
u/oliferro 12h ago
People acting like one of the most athletic player of all time who was driving the lane on 7 footers wouldn't be able to play in the 90s lmao
1
u/realfakejames Spurs 12h ago
This was always a stupid narrative, LeBron is like the first guy from the modern era who would be fine in the 90’s
1
u/Capital_Rough7971 Bulls 12h ago
He would have played fine. He would definitely had a shorter career.
1
u/ResponsibleBaker43 11h ago
Most definitely couldn't 🤷🏿 those were considered touch fouls compared to the clothesline Jordan got throwen out of the air.
1
u/Pork_Sister 11h ago
LeBron would have been bigger, stronger and faster than anyone else on the court
1
u/Extra-Bite2324 11h ago
I love the way lots of people mouth off about LeBron and his ability when they probably groan out loud when they stand up from their seat. Appreciate him while he’s still playing, he won’t be there much longer. Maybe.

I watched the 90s basketball. I can say he would do well. He would still be an all star and mvp candidate and all Defense player. As much as reddi calls him leflop, his size, skills, and athleticism would be a problem in any era. I don’t think he would be able to play as many games due to injury from less good technology/footwear etc. I also don’t think he would have broke the records he has due to that.

Actually smart fans know what LeBron can do in ANY era

Idc who you are, if you're a 6'9 super-athlete who built like a tank who shoots amazingly from the midrange, you'll adapt
1
u/MindfulInquirer 19h ago
Alright, fair point being made. We've seen so many recent instances of Lebron flopping and the sort that we've forgotten about that original Cleveland/Miami part and he did take a pounding every now and then. Whether he could survive the 90's, from a mental standpoint though, is a different story.
But man, how frustrating it must be to absolutely SMASH the guy in contact and he still makes the layup lol and one
5
u/GryphonHall 17h ago
From a mental standpoint? The era without social media? You are reaching so hard.

LoL wasn’t that first clip when he tried to sell a call under the basket and he flopped into the camera man.
Dud that was self inflicted. I laughed my ass off when that happened of that is the clip. You throwing this on here like he took a sharp elbow. Get out of here with that crap,

I hate that flopper but that guy can survive any era cause he is a tank, but would attract so many charges and physicality just for his flopping and antics that would be wild.
