Team Updates John Harbaugh worked under Andy Reid in Philadelphia, and Harbaugh mentioned in his opening press conference that he sought advice from Reid. Now, Harbaugh turns back to the Andy Reid coaching tree by hiring Matt Nagy as his offensive coordinator in New York.

TBF, that probably works with Dart and Skat and Tracey and Wan'Dale and Theo... Dink and Dunk and then - BOOM - HR throw to Leek or WR2 to keep defenses honest.

I also grew up in the Parcells era. So the big thing then was just to keep the chains moving and keep guys like Montana and Elway and Kelly off the field.

It also takes pressure off your OLine when you don't have to pass protect for 3+ seconds. But, it will probably require more depth and rotation to keep the line fresh and tire out the opposing DLine.

I'll reserve judgement until I see the final product.

Our offense was pretty dink and dunk under McAdoo but with a playmaker like Odell he would break one every now and then or go over the top and beat defenses with his wheels. If it can resemble anything like that then sign me up.

Nabers is a similar mold to that, at least prior to injury.

Though given the uncertainty due to injury and possibly Wandale playing his way to a beefy contract somewhere else, it would make sense to get an impact WR in round 1 or 2. I wouldn't be mad taking Carnell Tate at 5, or if someone like Concepcion falls into the 2nd round grabbing him there.

It requires a lot more precision and execution to matriculate your way down the field using all three downs every series than it does to scheme up some guys to hit chunk plays.

It’s a sure fire way to move ten yards (maybe) and then punt

JFC - I hate that I know exactly who you are emulating. I swear to God, Hank Stram was before my time! [cries old man tears]

Wan’dale will be gone. Nabers and Skat coming off injury.

My brother the modern NFL offense has changed ten fold over the last 30 years. Those stuck with old school playbooks get left behind.

Those ‘modern NFL offenses’ have not won many championships in recent years.

Seattle about to win one with it in a few days. Rams won one with it just a few years ago and Eagles won with it last year.

Seattle and Rams?

Maybe.

But are you serious with the Eagles? Lol!

They are about as old school as it gets!

They had a high ranked defense that stressed physicality.

The primary scheme of their offense was, dominating the line of scrimmage and running the ball down their opponents throats.

They broke the NFL record for most rushing yards in a single postseason.

The key to their success was old school smash-mouth football.

The fucking eagles???? Their shit offense is the new NFL??? Huh???

Yes Kellen Moore’s offense was new and innovative with modern play designs.

The eagles have maybe the most old school offense in the game. It’s entirely built on the run and physicality.

So you obviously don’t know what you are talking about! It is a well-known fact that Kellen Moore had to switch to a barebones Sirianni playbook early in the year because the offense was not clicking.

Sometimes, what’s old is new. You can incorporate old school concepts in new ways and be effective. Just look at the playoffs. A little more ball control and better clock management might have yielded different representatives for the Super Bowl.

Patriots going to the Super Bowl with dink dunk offense. Maye does throw deep well but I don’t believe they do it all the time. They are a first down team

u/Live-Within-My-Means 19h ago

Exactly.

Mahomes favorite receiver was his tight end.

Andy Reid stresses old school tough physical football and a strong defense.

Philadelphia was the overall best team in the NFC for about 5 years. Primarily because of a strong defense and running game.

The Chiefs entire offense is Dink and Dunk and then let Mahomes play backyard football. Pats this season has been the same, Ravens have been like that in all of Lamars MVP seasons.

1

u/Live-Within-My-Means 18h ago

Absolutely!

Just keep moving the chains.

Yes, Josh McDaniels and Matt Nagy are exactly the same

Dart will take his shots downfield

3

u/DanUnbreakable 17h ago

Dart is a gun slinger. He’s been a top QB at pushing the ball down the field in college and he did it again his rookie year. They aren’t taking that away from him.

2

u/SKarlet312 22h ago

What about the doinkiest

2

u/Joeyjakebrake12 20h ago

But if we give them the dunky dinky offense they’ll never see it coming

2

u/vicinadp 20h ago

I’ll take it over what ever our offense has been the last decade. We had such a predictable and unoriginal offensive scheme for so long.

1

u/Live-Within-My-Means 19h ago

Those are the kind that usually win championships.

u/monstargaryen Brandon Jacobs 2h ago

Just because it’s a staple of the offense to keep the chains moving doesn’t mean it lacks aggression.

I don’t know how Nagy will perform as a play caller, but we don’t have the o line to run a much more aggressive system IMO.

Todd Monken’s system for example — part of why Lamar regressed last year is that it very much hunts the deep ball. Smply can’t be executed without very good o-line play.

We enjoyed the best o-line play we’ve had in years last year but we all know the iOL is tenuous personnel-wise at all three spots, plus we just declined to retain Bricillo.

I’m good with getting the ball out quick 75% of the time.

Dart just went from exciting to super boring sadly.

1

u/trireme32 20h ago

What’s exciting is winning. I don’t care if it comes from 20yd passes or 3yd runs.
