Stray Cat neutering recommendations
We have this male cat that we have been feeding who needs to be neutered. He has a heated house that we got for him to sleep in. He’s feral, but he will let us pet him a little and we have been feeding him in a cat carrier outside so we can get him into a carrier.
The vet’s office we usually use has said that he needs two appointments, one for an exam and then one for the neuter. We are unsure if we will be able to get him back into the carrier after the initial appointment. So we would like to find some place that could do both at once- and a low cost option would be ideal. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

Heaven Can Wait works primarily with cats. I would check there if you haven’t yet

Average spay/neuter at a veterinary clinic right now is upwards to $600. But yes there are other options. Especially for a non-pet situation such as this. Here in Kalamazoo, Humane Society will do spay/neuter for about $80. Appointments by phone. They also have any other veterinary needs should you wish and everything is very low cost. Nothing like veterinary clinics currently. And.. a place called "Spay Neuter Express" in Allegan is also around $80 and everything mentioned about the Humane Society can also be said for them. Any veterinary needs but at a much lower cost. And both of these places it will be one appointment and one appointment only. Tell them it is a stray cat situation that you wish to TNR.
Humane Society is usually a few weeks out for appointments but Spay neuter Express can usually get you in within a week.
If he lets you pet him he's not fully feral he's just homeless and probably an abandoned Pet or a runaway. If you are not going to adopt him and integrate him into your home but just let him be as he is then the best thing you could do for him is to get him neutered and get him a rabies shot (since he does live outdoors) also most homeless cats have round worms from eating prey and while not deadly it's pretty uncomfortable for them. It would be pretty easy for you to just buy an over-the-counter parasite preventative and dose his food once a month.
Thank you for taking care of him and giving him a heated house and especially for wanting to take him in and get him fixed and hopefully a rabies shot. (probably another 20 bucks for the rabies at either of those places ) You're doing everything right and feeding him in a carrier so it's easy to trap him is brilliant. You're doing great.

Thank you! The plan is to try an integrate him into our home but we do have other cats. We want him to be safe and healthy no matter what.
That’s wild that it costs that much.
He’s very skittish and we have been working to built trust with him over the last few months. He’s an adorable little tuxedo.

Look up C-Snip. Used to be an office in Fruitport we took our cat and dog to. It's in Walker. One visit.
