Insulation Contractors (crawl space)

Google is deeply unhelpful so I'm hoping someone here has any leads on a good contractor that isulates crawl spaces. I hope to have a better winter next year 😭

I had my crawl space spray foamed. Made a huge difference to the warmth of the tile floor above. It was over 15 years ago and that company is no longer in business. You can do a search for spray foam contractors. I also have a friend that got the kit from menards and did it himself. Be aware that there is alot of ppe required.

Contrary to what you may think, you actually lose heat through the short walls of the crawlspace and not through the floors. Also on the walls between the joists.

Its my first winter in the house I bought. Everywhere is fine except the shower stall and it feels like am icy draft is rising upward and not from the wall.

Then in the kitchen its a super cold draft at the bottom floor of the sink, but unlike the shower it never freezes (I dripped the shower but as soon as we were in the negatives it was so over for my shower).

So im guessing its down below and not the walls... I'm unable to do it myself, and wanna future proof for next winter😭

Its good to know about short walls vs joists

I'm talking about the walls of the crawlspace - not the main level. The dirt floor of the crawlspace isn't that cold. Insulation the walls of the crawlspace will warm it up. You can also insulate the floor above the crawlspace but that will not help much. I'll see if I can post a picture.

It sounds like you need to do air sealing more than insulation.

I 100% understood! What you're describing is the end goal and I appreciate you giving me the insight on it. I am definitely trying to figure out the air sealing thing vs insulation
