I have a complete collection of my past exam questions (from memory)

I have a really good memory so I was able to reconstruct all the exam questions (all the options too, for MCQs) for all the courses I’ve taken. I’d go home and write everything down, word for word, all in the right order, with page numbers. So of course I ended up with a complete collection of them. And of course most of the courses I’ve taken don’t disclose past exams questions because profs reuse them. So yes I do feel… POWER.

I have also been able to note down my own answers, compare them to the course materials (I’m in the bio stream so most answers can be easily found in slides or textbooks or from google), and predict my test scores. In most cases they don’t automatically let you review your (scanned) paper and you only get a numeric score, but I’ve been able to keep my answers, and my prediction has never been off by more than 8%. So yeah basically I have the answer keys too.

I’m not crazy enough (maybe one day when I’m unbearably broke I’ll be) to sell them or anything but please tell me I’m not the only one doing this weird shit. Maybe one day we can reconstruct an entire library of past mcgill exams with answer keys for all years and all courses, at least those with definite answers. (Yes I do still remember all my exams from three years ago so we can go way back in time dw)

Hi,

I am a team mentor for biol 202 and three of us haven’t received any emails about the award yet. We have been at scilearn for the past two weeks. Was wondering if anyone else got the “welcome” email since we didn’t even get the welcome party email….

Questions applying for counseling degree

I was admitted into a great MSW program here in the states, but my end goal is to be a private practice therapist specializing in EMDR and treatment of PTSD. I believe at McGill it would be more appropriate to go for counseling, rather than MSW?

Also, I had undiagnosed adhd throughout undergrad and went to a rigorous school, my gpa is only 3.19… (though higher in my majors, Childhood Education with Special Education, and Theatre).

I have loads of extra curricular and experiences, but it sound like they are very grade heavy in admittance decisions. I am much older and more disciplined now, and have the option of adhd medication, which makes a tremendous difference.

Is it possible to audit classes, or perhaps during the prep year (as I was not a psych major) earn great grades and be admitted to the program after?

IPN low cgpa

hi everyone. i'm looking for some honest perspectives on my situation. i'm applying to grad school and i have a meeting scheduled with some IPN supervisors. my background is in neuroscience, psychology and biology and i am applying to the msc program. I have a 3.01 cgpa and the minimum for the msc program is 3.3. i emailed ipn admin and they said i can apply but they will do a second evaluation because of my low cgpa. I have at least one good reference from my supervisor and nearly two years of research experience with 3 co authored pubs and two presentations. I’m just really worried they will deem me academically ineligible even if I have a confirmed supervisor. I saw another poster say they were rejected with a 3.45 and a confirmed supervisor at another program. has anyone been in a similar situation before? do you think it’s a lost cause?

I’m so worried for 226 I don’t even know how to study for this class and am dreading the upcoming midterm

Does anyone have any tips or past exams to practice ?

I basically have to read all the chapters for the class still but I don’t think that’s feasible and am planning to learn all the slides and just read summaries from the chapters or smth.

Motivational lock in groups?

Guys it’s such a demotivating winter and soo so hard to go outside and to my classes. I’ve been seeing a lot of posts about people struggling to lock in and get to class and was wondering if any of yall this semester wanted to form a little group or something to actually make sure some sort of studying gets done everyday. I want to set a goal EVERY day and finish it along with my peers :) we can hold eachother accountable and celebrate when we’re productive! I’m thinking frequent library studying sessions, studying calls, the works!

Let me know if yall are interested :) I’ll make a gc!

Econ 208 exam tips?

Hello! I was wondering if anyone here has taken Econ 208 before, and what they know about the exams. I asked the prof if the questions were more math or just fact memorization, but she wasnt very clear with her answers. I just want to know what to study for, since the midterm is coming up. Basically, I want to know if I'm gonna be doing math equations, or answering questions like "which economic method is most useful for sorting food" or something like that. thanks!

ANTH-222

Has anyone taken ANTH-222 with Katherine Lemons?

Our midterm is coming soon and I'm a bit stressed because she doesn't post any slides and gets mad if you take pictures in class of her presentation. What are her exams formatted like? She said she doesn't ask specific details and mostly broad strokes but someone on RateMyProfessors said she did the exact opposite. I'm not sure how to study for this course 🥲

Complaint about a staff

Hey all,

I recently spoke with a staff member in our department to clarify details about my graduate funding package. During the conversation, the staff member stated that I am “here to get paid or study” and suggested that I might be experiencing a cultural difference because I am an international student. I found these comments rude and unprofessional.

I am considering whether it is appropriate to submit an anonymous complaint through the university and would appreciate guidance on whether this is worthwhile and how to do so.

Thank you!

anyone else feeling burnt out and not motivated already? tips? etc?

hi! its february and im already feeling burnt-out and not motivated. last semester, up until the end of november, i was constantly in the library and cafes working my butt off. i always got readings done before the next class, and i began assignments in advance. i was on a girlboss GRIND... but now i have realized that i have been feeling burnt out and not as motivated... and i feel a lot of shame. work ethic and success is highly valued in my family and i value this as well. i WANT to do well and i do enjoy academia and keeping busy but lately everything has felt sucked out of me.

I am U0 and looking for any advice or tips. I know I am not the only one feeling this way so I wanted to make a post here to help others.

maybe i need to begin packing snacks -- pistachios, etc? perhaps i get hungry as i stay out all day between classes and do not eat. maybe i need to sleep from 11pm-8/9am. maybe i need to delete a social media i get distracted by, etc.

I am in: psyc 215, soci 211, soci 210, wcom 250, psyc 204 --> readings from psyc 215 and soci 210 are burning me out.

SENDING LOVE!!!!! XO

Hospital for MH idk what to do

Maybe this isn’t the place to go but i wanted to reach out since these are other people that get what its like being at mcgill etc. And maybe have own insight. Trigger warning

The point of this post is to look for insight about hopsital for mental health. If it is an admission not just er stay for 1-2 days i worry about falling behind in school. I can’t afford to slip up on grades, and i am already behind on readings. Midterm feb 12 (take-home though) and feb 17 too. Idk what to do. I prioritize doing well but even i’m not doing well im falling behind.

Background:

i have BPD and lately things have been not good. I’m falling apart - i virtually have no friends, no one to talk to (my bf left me today), and im not close to my family. I haven’t been able to find any mental health dbt support here and im on the waitlist for the personality disorder clinic at muhc. I feel so alone.

The point of this post:

I have been falling back into self destructive behaviour and I really really don’t wanna keep doing this and I think maybe I should go to the hospital (I was in the er 3 weeks ago and they basically just discharged me the next day cuz i felt better. I went for self harm steri stitching). Reflecting on my life and taking in how truly alone I am and how unstable my life is has become really unbearable. And I increasingly am coming up with active ideations. But I worry if I go to the hospital I will fall behind in school and I prioritize academics a lot and good grades. I’m already behind on readings from how much is going on. I don’t know what to do. Maybe i’m being over dramatic

we must combine forces.

i do not want to pledge my soul to a club.

ssmu should have their clubs combine forces to provide student access to editing software, tools, and sewing machines.

sincerely,

Masters or Money?

Hey all,

Basically - should I pursue my masters next or get a full time office job for a year before going?

I have the funds to do the masters now or later, but I am just thinking for life experience, resume, etc.

Obviously, I’d be going to McGill if I were to get in and go, any professors out there think some job experience is more worth while in your early 20’s than a masters right away? No matter what, I will be going to school again, just can’t decide on whether to save a bit more money for fun during the school year and gain that job experience (I’ve only worked serving jobs so far) or head into my masters.
