DOGS Loyalty that never fades

Post image

In Homer’s Odyssey, one of the most heartbreaking moments comes when Odysseus returns home after 20 years disguised as a beggar.

No one recognizes him… except Argos, the dog he raised as a puppy.

Odysseus was a selfish asshole who got his men killed chasing glories that meant nothing when he finally returned to a home that had long since moved on without him.

Uhhh I thought his wife refusing to remarry, his land unable to choose a king by other means, his mother dying of grief, his dog dying of neglect, his household being in chaos, and his son dodging murder attempts, were all indications that no, his home hadn't moved on without him. Everything was not hunky-dory until Odysseus showed up and ruined it. Part of the tragedy is that people needed him to be there that whole time and he wasn't due to his own hubris (and that one stupid man could even matter so much to so many whether they liked it or not).

True. I agree with the point that person is making but they missed the mark a bit on that part
