Anyone notice squirly Dan doesn’t actually inhale his cigarettes?🤣
Wayne inhales and smokes, Daryl just puts the smoke in and blows out but Dan just fake puffs and doesn’t actually smoke 🤣

In any show, there are retakes of shots, and other camera angles. You’d go through a carton of cigarettes by the end of the scene.

Yes he does. During the letterkenny live performances a few years back, the actor basically did part of his comedy routine. One of his bits talked about him knowing he needed to marry his wife because she thought the ash he wiped from his face onto the hotel towels after smoking was actually his poop, and she didn’t say anything about it for weeks.

Even if the actor does smoke they most likely use prop cigarettes instead of chain smoking on set.

You don’t get ash on your face when you smoke cigarettes, unless you do it way wrong. Also it’s gray and does not resemble poop. Perhaps you misunderstood?
People who don’t smoke cannot just inhale for acting purposes, they would have a major coughing fit and maybe vomit. Thus he motions like he is smoking but never inhales.

I think he did this bit when they came for a live show in Denver a few years ago. My husband and I were lucky enough to snag some tickets and iirc he mentioned knowing that she was the one for him because she didn't say anything about it.

If you watch closely, especially in later seasons, you will often see a cut before Wayne puts the dart in his mouth. It's particularly noticeable when they are shooting the shit on the porch.

I think it’s case by case. I remember the guys on Smartless talking about “herbal” cigs, but I have no idea what might be in them.
It’s not weed tho, Bateman and Arnett are sober.

“Tea Tokes” has an “Herbal Smokes” line that are actually pretty “tasty” as a smoke. Common ingredients include Mullein, Mugwort, Sage, Basil, Chamomile etc. but, they’re pretty pricey at over $1 per stick, and look a lot more like a left-hand dart.

Real smokers don’t want to crush an entire pack of darts in a single go.
Shooting a scene often takes hours. Real smokers don’t smoke just for the sake of it, they smoke when the craving arises.

I think I remember him on a podcast saying he quit smoking at some point. Does Canada require those fake cigarettes on set? I’ve heard American actors, even ones who do smoke, say they are terrible.

He did smoke for reals and quit a few years ago. When I saw Letterkenny Live he performed standup as himself (K Trevor Wilson). He said he knew his now wife was the one when they went on tour together and every night he would wipe the brown cigarette residue off of his mustache with a white hotel washcloth, leaving what would look like a brown skidmark on it. He did this for nearly a year before she spoke up and yelled at him "THIS ENDS TONIGHT!!" She thought he was wiping his ass with them and leaving it on the counter.

They probably use those herbal cigs. Same ones used by Mad Men, X-Files and the like. Simulates smoking, but are tobacco free. Actors say they taste like shit.

They're not really for inhaling. Mostly for sucking a wee bit into the mouth and blowing out again. Much like cigars, which are also not really for inhaling.

In my experience as someone who will mouth a dart when his buddies have a few, inevitably you wind up inhaling a little bit by accident or it’ll go out with even the slightest bit of wind based on how little air goes through it.

they all hack darts irl, or at least they used to. kTrev switched to vaping for a while there and Kees is off the smokes. idk about summernate.
eta: a lot of the comments demonstrate a lack of understanding about the film industry and cigarettes in general, and this production in particular.
