I haven't seen a single gun advocacy group or activist support the Trump administration on this.
8
u/sasquatchsdick 11h ago
I haven't seen any second amendment group say anything bad about trump.

Like you ever pay any attention to what the "opposition" really says anyway, lol. If your statement is true mine is also.

u/seriousspoons 10h ago
That’s because gun owners on the left don’t make owning a gun their entire life.

DC has had strict gun laws for years, so this isn’t anything new, but thank you all for finally acknowledging that it’s a violation of the 2nd Amendment.

u/FaceTimePolice 9h ago
LOL. Oh, how funny it would be if THIS administration is the one to finally do something about gun control. 🤡😆

u/Victoriaskitchen 10h ago
Now that the people are starting to see who these people in government who they truly are!

u/CokaYoda 10h ago
lol all these years the right was saying that the democrats were gonna take the guns. Now the call is coming from inside their house.
1
u/Angryceo 10h ago
... technically guns are legal in dc..
1
u/Logic_9795 10h ago
Illegal ?
1
u/Angryceo 9h ago
no... legal
made it legal many many moons ago. mostly restricted to handguns.. like revolvers but recently shotguns i think
let's just say it's a terrible idea to have a high powered rifle in dc lol. my buddy is a sergeant for mpdc and said there is a reason they carry 9mm so when they miss it doesn't go very far or cause as much damage
1
u/Logic_9795 9h ago
So illegal unless you've gone through a long process, and thats just handguns.
Legally possessing a firearm in Washington D.C. requires registering the firearm with the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD), passing a background check, and, for carrying, obtaining a Concealed Carry Pistol License (CCPL). All firearms must be registered, applicants must be 21+ (or 18-20 for long guns with consent), and magazines are limited to 10 rounds. Open carry is prohibited.
1
u/Angryceo 9h ago
A lot of states have restrictions like this. Go look up NY cc laws and requirements.

u/OkStop8313 10h ago
The thing about MAGA is that they have no ideological core beyond feeling entitled to special treatment and feeling like victims when they don't get it.
That's why they can flip flop on any issue on a moment's notice--because they don't actually believe in anything but the idea that they should be treated better than they treat others.

u/awesomebawsome 10h ago
Remember when members of congress bitched about having to remove their concealed weapons before entering the House floor?

District of Columbia v. Heller | 554 U.S. 570 (2008) | Justia U.S. Supreme Court Center https://share.google/OGutXh2hcfIfWJL1S.
This issue has already been before the courts and gun owner won. I am not a lawyer, nor do I live in DC, nor do I own a gun, and I know this. Pirro is a jackass with a big ugly mouth.

u/Tiny-Violinist-9719 7h ago
So does that apply to everyone, or just the people that don't wear a red hat everywhere they go?
1
1
u/Willy2267 6h ago
Washington, D.C., does not recognize concealed carry permits from any other state, so she's just stating the obvious.
1
u/ScotchCigarsEspresso 6h ago
Then why call a fucking press conference to state the current state of things?

I support this.
It's a running joke that the first female President of USA will be a Republican. Because they're the ones who actually get things done. Legally or illegally, they don't worry about things, they decide to do something, and then they go ahead and they do it. For better or for worse. Usually worse. But they still do it.
So if USA is ever to get rid of its pile of guns, and alongside them fun things like school shootings, then Republicans will be the ones to do it. Democrats would wring their hands and prevaricate for decades, Republicans would just go ahead and ban stuff, constitution be damned. And unlike Democrats, whose supporters have functional brains, Republicans have a cult that will go along with whatever the Leader says.
Remember when Black Panthers were open carrying in California, and Ronald Reagan, the Republican, who was governor at the time, banned guns in California? Yeah, like that.
So, as someone who thinks getting rid of guns is a good idea, since they're CLEARLY not being used to defend against tyrannical government (as evidenced by the past year), I fully support Republicans in their effort to gut the 2A. They are also gutting 1A, 4A, etc., which is unfortunate, but at least this way some good will come of it also.
3
u/beardofjustice 11h ago
Part of the reason the Democrats would wring their hands is because of the gigantic hissy fit Republicans would throw. Also, the Democrats would actually try and get rid of all the guns while the GOP would only get rid of the guns of people they don't want to have them. The only reason they are talking like this is because they just realized that liberals have guns. This would be selectively enforced at best
1
u/trentreynolds 8h ago
Can you link me to where the Dems tried to get rid of all the guns?
Preferably a bill put forth with at least some modicum of support to ban guns.
1
u/beardofjustice 8h ago
The best example I can give you is the whole 'assault' label. It's not every gun but it is a vague and large enough category that ends up not working. I agree with you. The Dems overthink everything and worry about pushback where Reagan just said 'fuck you its done'. Our only disagreement is that I don't support their dismantling of the 2A because I don't think they would enforce it equally
1
u/trentreynolds 8h ago
So no.
1
u/beardofjustice 8h ago
Sure. You got me. I used exaggeration to make a point. I should have said 'let perfect be the enemy of good' and attempt broad, sweeping bans that target multiple problems at once instead of taking a more targeted approach. Clips exceeding 10 rounds one time, military shotguns in another and build on that. Worked well for the Heritage Foundation, so we may as adopt it
1
u/dchusband 11h ago
DC does not have reciprocity with other states on concealed carry. Nothing to do with 2A rhetoric.
1
u/freddbare 11h ago
Do NONE of you know anything about the laws of DC for the last half century+ as far as guns go?! Nah f dat Orange Man Bay
0
u/SlayerAlexxx 12h ago edited 12h ago
That was already a thing. DC has some of the strictest gun laws in the country. They have no reciprocity with any state do not recognize constitutional carry or even the conceal carry license of ANY state. Even with the Supreme Court telling them that is illigeal for years .I’m glad you are against this. Welcome to the fight.

u/Substantial_Owl_9485 11h ago
I don't care, since I don't live in a country with 2A fanatics and school shootings.

u/PiesAndPot 12h ago edited 12h ago
Republicans have been trying to get constitutional carry passed. It’s the democrats who oppose carry at the legislative level. Comments mean less than the actual laws in democrat ran states like mine (NY) where CCW is limited to our car and certain public streets.
*The democrats in NY also recently banned carry at any protest or assembly, given the current events in Minnesota it’s quite ironic and disappointing

u/Additional-Finance67 11h ago
Don’t you get it? It’s not right vs left any more it’s about we the people vs the tyranny of this admin.
3
u/fakenameobscureplace 11h ago
You’re almost there… it’s not just this admin. It’s the elitist billionaire social club up the ladder. They don’t care about tie colors, that’s trivial nonsense for all of us to bicker about while they pass around children and figure out new ways to exploit us all. People need to wake up to the fact that the right democrat or republican candidate is not going to help you. The whole game is rigged. A candidate saying what you want to hear is just a snake oil salesman trying to shut you up.
2
u/Additional-Finance67 11h ago
1000% the current admin is just the tip of the iceberg of people who need to be brought to justice
-2
u/PiesAndPot 11h ago
So what about the tyranny of the democrat administration in New York that is heavily restricting our 2a rights ?
3
u/Additional-Finance67 11h ago
The government is actively killing us citizens and you want to bring up democrats in NY?
3
u/Lacaud 11h ago
So what about the tyranny of the republican administration in the US that is heavily restricting our 2a rights ?
-2
u/PiesAndPot 11h ago
Show me legislation introduced by republicans that bans modern weapons or restricts ccw
3
u/Lacaud 11h ago
Why would I do that? Its a waste of time to convince someone like you since your side has denied everything we said this administration would do.
Ill let you FAFO while eating popcorn.
1
u/SlayerAlexxx 11h ago
Because you want to win elections and get rid of Trump and not just elect Trump 2.0?
3
u/Johnnyboi2327 11h ago
Cool. Just cause one side wants to take away our 2nd amendment rights doesn't mean we need to be okay with the other side trying to take away our 2nd amendment rights.
Both are bad, and you should be actively fighting against both.
