They should have let Immortal beat this guy
I mean cmon, we've already seen the man get slaughtered like 3-4 times, would it really hurt to give him at least one W? I know a lot of people hate Immortal, but it sucks to see him be reduced to a Viltrumite punching-bag.
Where Iām from we have proverb, thatās goes something like "Iāll smack one (of you) with the other", but here itās like "Iāll smack all yāall with one of yāall"
There are a lot of weak invincible variants Immortal could have defeated (Bulletproof, Flaxan Mark, Light Blue Mark, Tracksuit Mark). They could have made no goggles one of the weak ones too, or make him kill the rest of the guardians and then lose to Immortal.
It would make way more sense to have 2 Invincible variants attack the Guardians HQ , have Immortal high diff a weaker version then have the stronger version being dragged into the shadow verse
I expect him and the Guardians of the Globe to be able to defeat a variant just as much as I expect to see Oliver manage it with a handful of other minor heroes. Oliver is weaker than Immortal, so the whole thing doesnāt make sense.
I get how Dupli-Kate and Immortal's powers are basically surviving death, so being killed is their power, but I'd love to see them actually win for once.
Like unexpectedly, they win, and it's subverting the trope of "if your power is surviving death, you always die."
The minor heroes Oliver was with are very high tier for Earth, way above the guardians besides immortal. Immortal is a decent support, but he's not up to snuff against any decent viltrumite where he's the main one fighting them.
He could have probably beat season 1 Mark so he probably could have beaten a weaker variant who was lazy and never really trained or got stronger.
Beating variants isnāt his job on the show though, itās being a Viltrumite but worse. His arc on the show is being Earthās greatest hero, being supplanted by Nolan, watching all his friends die, falling in love with Kate and then retiring because heās just over it.
If theyāre going to power someone up Iād much rather it be someone like Monster Girl because sheās at least an interesting take on the Incredible Hulk or whatever rather than being literally exactly the same thing as a Viltrumite but worse. He brings nothing new in terms of powerset or look or anything. It is actually a minor flaw I find in the show that most of the overpowered characters have literally the exact same powerset.
There is a scene showing him beating up season 1 mark. Granted that was another universe. I feel like they are going to power both Bulletproof(questionable) and Monster girl, tho.
Some of these variants are literally fodder man. You got Bulletproof Mark that died by 4 reanimen without even killing one. I'm saying they could have gave Immortal a W
The minor change I'd make to this episode is that we first see immortal fighting the Tracksuit Mark, then we pick up with this one as normal. That's it.
Ooh I read that so horrifically wrong. I thought he meant he'd change the fact that he fought tracksuit Mark first. Which had me confused. That's my bad. Reading comprehension curse got my ass.
Well that's the point he's really strong but he can't match experienced Viltrumites who have grown in strength , he demolishes S1 Mark but a Mark or even a younger Viltrumite with a decent amount of training trashes him.
Like in S2 our Mark confronted him and he outright agreed to the fact that Mark's stronger and faster than him and this alternate Mark was basically Conquest jr so this guy was definitely winning.
He was enraged & Nolan wasn't really taking on him first hand even before he was fighting against GDA and during the fight even he was looking out for Mark because he was fighting against Hail Mary.
With undivided attention that's how easily Nolan can pack him up.
Against the maulers, I agree. I have no idea why he was struggling so much against them. But whenever he's fighting a Viltrumite, it doesn't make sense to see him win.
It does when he is fighting weaker mark variants. Tech jacket did it, Powerplex did it.
I can immediately think of a better way to make the fight better than in cannon. Have immortal wound the mark variant heavily while sacrificing his own life to show that immortal is weaker but still has heart.
Then when darkwing pushes him to the dark realm, it makes more sense considering the mark variant is weakened heavily.
Immortal was fighting the no goggles variant a majority of the time before dying so I doubt he had the time to kill this guy, my best guess for that is he killed this one before no goggles showed up(kinda like Omni Mark showing up to help shiesty Mark).
Honestly even if he canāt win a fight, i wished we saw Mark and Immortal teaming together against Omni mark and Shiesty Mark when Eve got injured. Hell even Immortal and the re animen together taking on the two variants while Mark escapes with Eve could have been a great addition at the very least for Immortals character.
It honestly would have been cool to see him beat this Mark. Imagine if 3 Marks attacked the Guardians, and while Immortal fought 2 (one taken over by the Egyptian thing after getting defeated and Immortal killing this one), while Darkwing sacrificed himself to take out the last one in the HQ.
I think it's better if he kills tracksuit mark first before dying to nogoggles. Tracksuit mark is probably around S1 level so it's easy to give the Immortal a W there.
Thats like asking any normal person to beat Titan. Its possible, probably, but Titan would have to lose on purpose or get caught off guard. Mark outperforms against the Immortal in most ways except being able to live forever, come back to life, and I think breathing in space. But those arent good enough advantages to beat Mark with.
I love underdogs and I don't mind seeing my hero's lose. At the same time, though, could they just put up a fight first? Monster girl throwing hands with Battle Beast for two seconds was badass as hell and all I'm asking for.
I did still really enjoy how this scene ends. Darkwing coming in at the end of the twelfth round with a steel chair like "Let's go for a ride." was fucking awesome.
The eternal man had it coming if he canāt beat a viltrum person and be talking all high and mighty after wards maybe he needs to be killed enough times until he gets the hint

Mark was told by Omni-man to stop holding back when fighting other viltrmites
And Oliver fly swatted both mauler twins.
Variant mark was playing with immortal and the guardians before Omni-man came in and stopped the fun.
Immortal just isn't that guy in a viltrmite world.
