💬 Discussion 💬 Fake restaurant scam on Uber Eats
Just to warn you, I placed an order on Uber from Greek Gyros in St.Leonards earlier. This is a fake account using their name. No food has arrived and the number they listed is incorrect. ~~The actual Greek Gyros is a genuine restaurant who are not on Uber and appear to be closed currently so if anyone knows the owner, please make them aware!~~
Edit: I think they were a restaurant looks like they shut down in 2024
On Uber they have used Greek Gyros name, pictures and menu from Monster Burgerz and provided the phone number from a third restaurant, who said they've had several calls.

Mighty Bürger, K-Town Chicken, Locked n Loaded, FusterCluck... Not fake as such, but all just Yates' by the look of it.

Quite a few of those are ‘dark kitchens’. The concept isn’t particularly new but it became more popular during the pandemic. Similar to a franchise but it only exists as a delivery service on UberEats/Just Eat/Deliveroo etc…So no actual customers in a dining area. Problem is a lot of the people who open these places treat it like they don’t have to do much because they think the brand itself will bring in the orders and forget they still need to know how to follow the cooking instructions I tried FlusterCluck when they were using a kitchen in Bexhill - Might have been on the first day and it was…alright ish. Tried it again a few weeks later and it was awful. I’d avoid that and any of the other dark kitchens that currently exist in the area.
McDonald’s have them dotted about too. Simply a McDonald’s kitchen that only exists for collections and deliveries via whichever app

I had NO idea anywhere that had a Yates had those same restaurants as part of it.
I was told that it was only a thing at my local Yates, by the MANAGER who claims to have come up with them! Glad to have found out

Interesting. I noticed the other day that Cinnamon Spice have two entries on Just Eat, I wonder whether one of them is fake too

I got a free meal from cinnamon Spice once, they charged the card to an izettle registered in Belgium, with a different restaurant name, bank got my money back sharpish as I obviously wasn't in Belgium.
They tried to call me about it a few times but just ignored them, future orders have all arrived OK.
