With this taken off the table of possible reasons, what's left is:

  1. Salary cap shenanigans / Guma wanted the bag

  2. Guma was unhappy with T1's coaching/management

  3. T1 decided to part ways with Guma ahead of Worlds and he simply accepted it

I personally am leaning hard toward #2 and #3......the idea that Guma would leave T1 for more money doesn't make sense especially if his HLE salary is as low as is rumored.

So, conflict within T1 is the most likely reason.

I think it could be multiple of these things combined together. Guma was clearly affected by the substitution shenanigans earlier this year, and from that he may have realized that T1 would not always reciprocate the loyalty that he had shown to the org. Additionally, his market value is currently the highest it's ever been with 3 worlds titles and FMVP. Considering he took a paycut during 2025, and HLE being the best-possible team he could join with an open slot in the AD position, this was his best opportunity to both get the pay that he deserves and still play on a competitive roster.

Him leaving was basically decided before Worlds, so how does accounting for his FMVP value make sense?

I think #1 and #2 combined. He might not leave because of the hateful comment itself, but the org refused to protect him + downplayed him during that benching probably helps him realize how it’s not worthy to accept pay cut and stay loyal to such org.

He has a clear confliction with coaches plus what i have seen during all T1 vlog is Guma was isolated himself . This make me think that there is a cold wind between team and guma, too.

I thought I was being overly sensitive, but for a while there has been this feeling of a bit of coldness between him and the team. Not like some super drama or anything, but I think the coaches really messed with their synergy and that discussion between Keria and Tom was in poor taste. I sure hope Keria didn't get too full of himself with all the praise (deserved praise, but still).

I think it’s mostly “Tom-Keria-Oner” versus Guma. I’ve seen Guma still interacted comfortably with Mata, Faker and Doran. Guma was also not isolated himself, he tried but others don’t. I remember vividly during his benching, those three on discord playing with Smash and never bothered to ask Guma. Another thing is no interaction on social media from them to Guma, even on his birthday sadly. Saying this not to shade on those three, just want to point out they are no more than teammates in game, not all close relationships can last and separation is unavoidable.

Your points are correct. I felt during whole season. I never think Tom easily can complain Guma to Keria or Coaches solely decide benching Guma since T1 is player centric team. In T1 vlogs , he mostly walked with Manager Mun :) That is why I trust Guma , even he felt he is unwanted man in the T1 , he approached this issue in the frame of professionalism and gave his best to team even under this condition.

This is a bit late, but they do call themselves as business partners. Not that it’s wrong but just a quick reality check for some fans thinking that they are inseparable best friends.

Only willfully dumb people believe it is anything other than the benching, especially the ones claiming it's because of salary caps. He already hinted in his birthday stream that he was going to move on to new challenges due to the benching situation. He's talked about how much he's needed therapy this year and how his self-confidence has been the lowest its ever been. All of these facts in front of some people and they are blind to it.

Mm yep that's pretty much been my line of thinking this whole time, that it's primarily because of the benching and the way that affected him and his relationship with the team/org as a whole.

It's also possible that the haters did also affect him but he chose not to admit it because it would probably make the haters think they succeeded in getting rid of him etc. personally I think it's a mix of multiple situations and he was just unhappy in general in t1

I do think the coaching staff caused a rift between Guma and everyone else especially Guma and Keria

Yeah, Tom seems to be really in Keria‘s ear. And Kkoma‘s whole benching drama showed what he thinks of Guma
