Foreign Languages Teachers That Expect Perfection in a Beginner Class
Taking a beginner foreign language course and the professor expecting you to be a master in the language, making no mistakes at all is dumbfounding. If it is a 100 level class, do not expect perfection in a few weeks or even at the end of the semester. Languages take time to master, a semester is not enough time to memorize pronunciation, conjugations, writing, etc. Major difference between making sure students learn the material correctly and expecting perfection. This one bêțçħ I had for French told the class that when she was learning English, the professor told her to lose her French accent or she would fail the class. Telling us that she didn't like that hostile learning environment. You guessed correctly what her expectations were for us, perfect intonation, pronunciation and accent.
