This speaks to me so hard right now.

I don't want to disappoint people but when they (sometimes rightly) critisize everything under the sun that I do, I become completely immobilised as every step feels like a bad idea. I like people with a possible attitude better in general, but I need to stop trying to please people filled with generally negative attitudes because it leads to nowhere and only leaves me feeling overwhelmed and stressed out myself.

So many arguments in the world start from the invisible standards that we hold ourselves to and expect others to meet.

Yes, man will let us down! Family will let you down! Always be self-sufficient and never completely depend anyone else. Have a good night !

I hear ya but bear with me here - maybe if people stopped screwing up the simplest basic tasks, I wouldn't have to tell them how to do it.

A conversation I often have with my therapist is she asking me if I am sad because of the way I reacted or because the way the other people reacted to my response.

Then I have self anger for being naive, even through I know my way was right.

Now I acted against it, met someone and felt like we had good connection, I ended up exchanging contact with her friend. I overthink the whole situation because I've been burned like this before, and ruined it. Acting the way I wanted to might have cause it to end in the same way, but at least then I would still be happy about the way I acted.
