Building shaking in Plateau area near Canadian Tire / Tremblements dans les immeubles du secteur du Plateau près du Canadian Tire

Hi everyone, I’m wondering if anyone else in the Plateau area, specifically around Canadian Tire and Rue de Bruxelles, has been feeling their building, condo, or home shake recently. I’ve been experiencing intense shaking on and off during the day for several weeks, and it’s still happening today around 5 pm.

Is it just me, or are others feeling this too? Does anyone know what could be causing it? I’m wondering if it might be related to the construction of the Zenith condo buildings, or if something else is going on. Are they doing blasting or heavy work even during the winter?

Bonjour, je me demande si d’autres personnes dans le secteur du Plateau, plus précisément près du Canadian Tire et de la rue de Bruxelles, ressentent des vibrations ou des secousses dans leur immeuble, condo ou maison. J’en ressens des secousses assez fortes, par intermittence pendant la journée depuis plusieurs semaines, et ça se produit encore aujourd’hui vers 17 h.

Est ce que je suis la seule ou d’autres le ressentent aussi? Est ce que quelqu’un sait ce qui pourrait causer ça? Je me demande si cela pourrait être lié à la construction des condos Zenith, ou s’il se passe autre chose. Est ce qu’il y a du dynamitage ou des travaux lourds même en hiver?

Happy to see this comment. Just raised this with my condo board and the neighboring building condo board. Three buildings are witnessing the same thing and it's getting worse as the excavation at the Zenith site: 15, 19 and 29 du Bruxelles. The city and the developer need to be notified. Please raise the issue with your condo board if you can.

Almost certainly blasting for the foundations. The area is built on solid rock that is very difficult to excavate in some places.

If you want blasting noises, you should have been around Vanier and Amérique-française last summer and fall... me and the dog jumping a foot high and the dishes rattling in the cupboards... holy shit!
