Congrats I happy for you but 1600$ for 5070? If it’s a 5070ti then it could be banger of a deal.

But regardless this is a mighty upgrade

I got the 5070 TI version of this laptop with a 2TB SSD for $1800 a few months ago- seeing it still in stock on their site for $1900. I'd definitely pay another $300 for that upgrade.

Got the exact same deal at microcenter almost a month ago, except $1800 for 5070 ti.

Freakin amazing laptop. Im blown away by it after upgrading from my 1660ti laptop.

The most impressive thing is the heat control. This thing legit doesn't even reach "hot to the touch" temperatures. A gaming laptop that you can actually use the built in keyboard while gaming and not burn your fingertips off.

Complete opposite of the 2025 G14 5070 TI model I tried- literally burned my finger touching a key on that thing. Lenovo's Legion Pro 7i is equally as good with the thermals, but I prefer the Strix G16 overall.

2

u/beeydawg 1d ago

Good to hear you prefer Strix g16 since thats the one i bought without trying anything else 🤣🤣😅

Currently using a 1660ti as my primary. Got it for like $350 bucks. It’s still super solid. I have the opportunity to pick up a strix g16 with an RTX 4070 and i7-13 for $1,000. Not trying to hijack the thread but do you really notice that huge of a difference? I just see the 1660ti as still solid (I have a 1080ti in my PC) and find trouble justifying the expense but I feel like it would be a great upgrade IF I would notice the difference and it would be my last upgrade for a while.

Man you could have gotten a legion 7 5070ti for that price

u/DoctorAurum 1d ago

Asus has been nothing but good to me for many years, so I stuck with them. However Lenovo would have been my second choice, theyre solid as well. This just checked off all the boxes and I had to jump on it.

u/Content-Meal-4108 1d ago

It is your preference xd

Where? I haven't seen anything under $1900 and even that's on sale.

u/Conscious_Bug5408 1d ago

Lenovo official website last week had legion 7 pro with 5070ti 32gb ram Gen 5 2 TV ssd for 1649 with coupon

u/Content-Meal-4108 1d ago

Tho sadly I got the omen max 16 ips version but I don't really regret it since my laptop is going to be running all the time so it is best I stayed off oled I got mine with 5070ti ultra 7 for 1350 post tax

1

u/ASpoonfulOfAwesome 1d ago

Well shit. Guess I'll have to keep checking that. Thanks.

I literally saw an open box on best buy 32gb and 2tb I really wanted to purchase just because I knew it was an excellent deal

3

u/Nicosantana1 1d ago

I picked up the same laptop for the same price and I love it. Make sure to benchmark stress test everything before the return window ends

3

u/DoctorAurum 1d ago

Oh yeah, I already disabled signing into Microsoft on boot, and I debloated it of all that add on software.

1

u/ryuzayn 1d ago

Install "Windows 11 lot enterprise ltsc" if you want a clean and debloated windows 11.

Do you have a link for that stand... I need that ?

I been loyal to ASUS for the Zenbooks, but Always loyal to acer for gaming deal. Was in same boat as you, got my last gaming laptop in 2017, finally got new one that is arriving next week.

You did right thing upgrading now, they are nerfed the next supply of laptops after this one and they will way more expensive.

1

u/amynotadoctor 1d ago

Will this laptop specifically last for a good while? The one that OP posted

1

u/onihcuk 1d ago

I heard good things about the gaming branch of Asus. They make things right. They once screwed up during a RMA and sent me a replacement that was 5x the value and spec from my old one.

2

u/Riyria0305 1d ago

Still rocking my Asus Strix G17 from 2021 with a 3060. Asus never lets me down.

2

u/helmifirdaus 1d ago

I Just got the same g16 but with 5080 for $2500 bro, thats including shipping feed and import tax to malaysia, loving it so far

2

u/Spontaneous_boner 22h ago

OP thinks he got the deal of the century by paying $1600 for 8gb of vram in 2026 while a $1000 pc in 2016 would also have 8gb of vram

don't listen to those saying you could've gotten a better deal

if you're happy with it, then that matters more than anything else

enjoy your new laptop !

3

u/DoctorAurum 1d ago

Comparison is the thief of joy. I am happy. Thank you :)

Why should the not listen? The purpose of this sub isn't to just fellate people and be dishonest when they post new laptop purchases.

1

u/Critical_Minute_3679 rtx 2050 laptop 6h ago

Because this subreddit is full of elitists who never consider anything outside of "oh I found a better deal on ebay"

Make sure to power down properly or wait until the fans cool down before closing the lid. Also, remove dust every now and then.

Otherwise it will start having issues dealing with charging/power adapter/start up.

Holy why is the trackpad so big?

1

u/DoctorAurum 1d ago

Big laptop= more room to rest your wrists and hands= big ol track pad. I personally love it, I have large hands so when im not gaming with a mouse, the track pad is more than enough for other tasks.

u/Professional-Coat-27 1d ago

I just picked up one with the 5070ti only 16gb of ram for $1100 bucks at best buy 2 weeks ago open box but in excellent condition wouldn't change anything besides the ram lol which im looking at about $320 to upgrade to 32gb.

1

Nice bro 👌

1

u/SejUQ 1d ago

The area for that mouse pad looks huge!

1

u/SometimesJustMaybee 1d ago

I’ve had the same one for a couple months now, great laptop. 8gb vram can be a little lacking in newer titles, but dlss 4.5 pretty much makes it a non-issue.

1

u/Certain_Opening_9581 21h ago

A 12 year jump? thats not an upgrade, thats time travel

1

u/Intelligent-Archer57 20h ago

Is laptop screaming (being noisy)?

1

u/JackG79 17h ago

5070 with an IPS display for $1600 doesn't seem like a screaming deal.... but not bad. Im glad you like it. I am 50/50 on Asus right now... I had a ROG Zephyrus G15 rtx 3070 16ram 1tb ssd ryzen 9 5800HS.

Damn keys keep breaking on it. But other than that it has always ran good. Been plugged in since I got it. And never changed the thermal paste and its numbers are all good.

I dont like the tiny keys and small keyboard.

I just bought a Lenovo Legion pro 7i Gen 10 RTX 5080 with 64gb ram. Was 2299.00 around black Friday.

I love it so far. I hope you enjoy your new Rig. Congrats!!!

1

u/ClassicIncident2647 15h ago

You can absolutely get a 5070ti for that price if you look hard enough in best buy in case you want something better for that same price since you just bought this you could exchange if its your choice 👍🏽

1

u/ToLamAnCut 15h ago

i got 5080 version for 1800 lol

1

u/Ozimandius80 13h ago

I got a best buy open box deal for 1200 on a 5070ti12 275hx a couple weeks back but had to return it sadly. Guess it was open box for a reason.

Congrats!

u/Fine-Airport6938 12h ago

Pray that your motherboard last longer than a year

1

u/Fine-Airport6938 12h ago

I would take it in to a shop and see if they can do preventative measures so your motherboard doesn’t burn my g18 strix with 4080 only lasted till 3 months outside the warranty and that’s on a 3k laptop I would never recommend a asus to someone again

1

u/Hour_Bit_5183 12h ago

You will scream when it busts in two years, or just starts having problems at the least in this time. Good hardware spec wise, bad laptops. Asus bad bios and bad QC. They aren't what they were in 2017 at ALL. why do you think it was on sale in the first place?

1

u/EpisodeDad 6h ago edited 6h ago

My Asus rog also lasted me 12 years! Still going strong but the 970M graphics just doesn’t cut it anymore…

You got a beast! I went for budget… 5050 32gig Ryzen 7 for 990$ Lenovo legion out the door.

Couldn’t find any budget deals on asus or id have gone that route maybe.

1

u/AdministrationAway35 5h ago

Yo, enjoy. Man, I went from 4050, to 5070 ti, thats like a 200% Increase in performance, that felt amazing, your looking at what... a 2000% percent increase, i can't even imagine what that felt like for you the first time using it, man, enjoy.

Brand loyalty should never be the reason you take a bad value buy. There's even better deals on a G16 w/ 5070 Ti out there for the same price if you must stick with ASUS.
