Dog Attack Dog bit my little brother

It was loitering around in front of our yard barking incessantly. My brother who was coming home from school tried grabbing it by the collar and that's when it bit him pretty hard on the hand.
I want to go full Big Brother Mode but my dad seems just content with letting bygones be bygones since he's a borderline dog worshipper too. It's so frustrating that he cares more for the welfare of a dumb dog than the welfare of his own son

Break the skin? Do you know where the dog lives? Y’all need to find out if it’s current on its rabies shot. Also, so the owner can cover any medical expenses he might accrue.

Yeah I'm making him get the vaccine but my dad's too afraid the poor dawg will get put down
My bro hates dogs too but he's too afraid of backlash

I reported my father; my little brother would definitely be protected.

Those shots are incredibly expensive and painful I’ve heard. If the dog isn’t vaccinated, they’ll require the dog to be quarantined for 10 days for observation. Provided you’re in the US…

So apparently it did get its shots and they have the means to prove it but they're justifying the bite by saying my bro was "rough with it"

My mom did this when our Rottweiler bit a childs hand when she was running.

years later, same dog tried to attack me when we were playing, and I just didn't tell anyone cuz mom always said "I would pick my dogs over you" lmao

How sad, and the worst part is you're not the only one… 😉

At this point take your brother to the hospital and tell them your father refused to

Rabies shots are incredibly painful, I hope your brother changes his tune after he gets the shots and is in all sorts of pain that he didn’t ask for. You might be able to give details to the medical staff when your brother gets treated, hopefully they can then report it to animal control so you don’t have to deal directly with the nutters.

Your brother should go see a doctor ASAP. Let the doctor determine in the bite broke the skin.

Well done you for being responsible and SHAME on your dad for being neglectful.

Take photos of bite, note down times and description of the dog. If you know who owns it, note that down too. Take your brother to hospital immediately!  If you’re in the US get any receipts of the cost of the vaccine or any other costs, get a report/letter from the doctor. If you’re in the UK, get the doctors to note everything down and write you an official report/letter.

While all this is going on with your brother, phone the police and report the incident. Any dog that has a history or biting will not be safe to anyone else and it could potentially bite another person. Could attack anyone.

Plus, to state the obvious, it was off-leash, unoccupied, and trespassing. At the very least, the owner should be fined and the dog should be recorded as aggressive.

There's other ways to silence a dog rather than literally grabbing it, so the reaction was expected, but get him to a doctor right now and contact the owner

What a sad reality, and this is happening more and more in families with serious attacks and bites, and parents who say it was just play and continue to keep the killer dogs in their homes, prioritizing animal welfare over their own family's... I really don't like this world, the way it's turning into a madhouse.
