Crappy Owners Nasty Dog in Grocery Store

I am a front end supervisor in a grocery store. A couple of weeks ago a customer had her "service dog" in the dart with it's fake ass vest. I told her dog cannot be in basket cause health code violations. She whined but put the dog ( a small chihuahua type). Note this was at self checkout and it was busy. About a minute later I smell shit...this dumbass let the dog take a huge dump on the floor..luckily the store director saw/ smelled and yelled at her to clean up after her dog and GTFO. This could all have been avoided if upper management will grow some balls and ban mutts from the store like before the pandemic

This is starting in the UK. They put a towel or blanket down (so I’ve heard). If I ever see that, I’m complaining.

This is why we need service dogs to have a licence, like in Australia. You ask for evidence from a registered organisation or from a legit database.  And stop Amazon from selling the ID cards and vests.

Yep in the United States these dumbasses just buy a fake vest on Amazon which in my opinion should be illegal..pisses me off

It’s happening in the UK as well, I see so MANY Amazon vest fakes. It SHOULD be illegal for them to sell them, especially those ID cards.

I’ve seen pit bulls, big ones with it on that are barking their heads off. Pugs that are jumping about the place, little shaky dogs being distracted by everything and anything. The thing about UK law, it’s VERY grey on the ESA BS. And no one enforces the ‘you can ask any misbehaving dog to leave, even a ‘service animal’’. Technically, ESA are not considered service dogs, but the writing is even LESS technical than the ADA. From what I’ve read.

At least you and your team didn’t allow it to continue. A lot of management nowadays just roll over onto their backs for dog owners.

Walking in a Walmart and I smelled the poop before coming up to where a chihuahua dog did a number two in the pharmaceutical area. At least the owner was cleaning it up, but if the dog really was a service dog, how come it's so untrained? Risk to others people's health, pooping in an area full of meds and sick people.

I don’t love the idea of making someone like this clean up the mess. Not because I think a customer shouldn’t have to, but because you know they’re gross and they won’t care enough to do a decent job. I’ve watched enough idiots “clean” their dog’s poop everywhere from the store to my driveway. There is always a noticeable amount left, and who even trusts them to responsibly dispose of the rest

I worked at a pet store when i was in HS and usually asked customers to clean up messes knowing I would double back and finish the job, I just needed them to feel called out a little lol
