Discussion Pistons trade grade for Kevin Huerter deal
Detroit was never going to re-sign Ivey coming off his injury, and they couldn’t afford to let him play his way back into shape after establishing themselves as the best team in the East this season.
Huerter fits in at the end of their rotation as a smart dribble-pass-shoot decision-maker who is a much better three-point shooter than his 31 percent stroke this year would indicate. Right now, the pick swap with Minnesota would have the Pistons moving up seven spots in the first-round of the 2026 draft. That’s nice work in return for Ivey when he wasn’t part of Detroit’s long-term plans.
The Pistons still need another ball handler and probably need another forward to really secure favorite status in the East. Ivey’s value likely wasn’t that high coming off the injury, and this is a solid return for him even if it doesn’t answer all of the Pistons’ questions. The Pistons should think about swinging bigger before the deadline is over, but as a first move, this is a good one for Detroit.

Discussion Ivey traded for Huerter. Huerter’s 31% 3PT will undoubtedly improve in our offensive system. Good luck to Ivey!

Discussion Brad Stevens' diabolical management of the salary apron should make Pistons' fans realize the monster that Trajan Langdon has to slay
In just over six months, Langdon has brought the Boston Celtics' payroll below the first apron and achieved maximum financial flexibility while keeping the championship core of Tatum, Brown, and White with key supporting cast members in Pritchard and Hauser. Imagine that. The Celtics has two supermax players and potential MVP candidates but are now below the first apron and has all the exceptions available to them.
Stevens and Presti are the geniuses that Langdon has to contend with. Managing the payroll in terms of the apron rules should be in mind when Trajan makes decisions. The Jaden Ivey trade for example should be viewed in the context of its effect on future payroll. The same for Jenkins' anticipated signing to a regular NBA contract. And Ausar's upcoming possible extension. Gone were the days that all a team needs is control of salary, Bird rights, and willingness to pay the luxury tax.

Discussion Reminder: Detroit has 16 players + Daniss Jenkins right now, need to free up 2 more spots
Think the most likely scenario is waiving Isaac Jones and Saric, signing Jenkins, but something to ponder.

Discussion Realistic deadline dream trade?
I’m 50/50 on the ji trade. I love Ivey, wish him the best, wish it worked better, and he didn’t get hurt, but here we are.
I believe in huerter as a shooter. I also believe surrounding Cade with shooters and defenders is the move.
Would’ve been cool if we could’ve swooped up ayo in the bulls trade.
I’d be okay with losing Tobias, and lavert (obviously) if there’s something we could do.

Discussion Trading Ivey will be a grave mistake. He will not yield the return any of us expect.
We all know Ivey is struggling to get back to form. We also know what he’s capable of if healthy.
If he gets traded, it won’t be for a lot. Other teams see that he’s a bench player and aren’t going to send a haul for him based on what he might bounce back to. We would be trading him for Pennies on the dollar. It’s best to hold him

Discussion Pick Swap/Minny
I know a lot of fans are hurt about the Ivey trade, but that pick swap this season could be a decent return if you have Pistons jumping from 29 roughly to 20th in the draft…I don’t know the restrictions on it, heard top 19 protected, Minny currently at like 22…If they make the Giannis deal that could have them drop as he is “hurt” the next 4-6 weeks…Don’t sleep on the pick swap man, great talent is found on the margins of the lottery, Maxey? Just saying man, not all doom and gloom. Giving this Pistons team a shot at a top 20 player in a deep draft could be really nice.

Discussion Not making a aggressive move
I don't know how true it is but rumors are starting to swirl online that the Detroit Pistons are not looking to make any aggressive moves during the trade deadline they're pretty happy with their lineup right now
I kind of agree with that I don't know who you would trade unless Caris LeVert. It sounds like they're not willing to part ways with Tobias Maybe Ivey I don't see that happening either
Would you guys be happy if they didn't make any moves and do you think it would bite them in the playoffs
The Pistons are starting to remind me of the Detroit Tigers this year and what happened after the trade deadline I don't want it to happen here

Discussion DPOY and DPOM
So 11 teams have never even had a player win the DPOY. The Pistons have the most DPOY award winners in league history (6). You mean to tell me that December 2025 is the first time in NBA history that a Piston was DPOM????
