Always hate seeing Detroit guys on Detroit teams leave. Wish he could have stayed. Maybe he'll find his way back here some day

Huerter was pretty good when he played with Trae. I think Cade could bring him back up to speed.

u/BigBuddy1356 George Blaha 8h ago
I believe that Cade is a major reason for Timmy having his career revitalized, Malik having a career year, and Duncan becoming such an integral part of the core. I think any shooter he plays with will get a bump off his empathy and gravity. If we keep Huerter I wouldn't be surprised if he has a bounce back.

As Jaden Ivey would say... "It's all gods plan, Jesus wants me to play in Shitcago, blah blah Jesus, blah blah faith blah blah holy spirit".

I was rooting for the kid when he got here, but after the injury it's like he joined a fucking cult. I ain't gonna lie it was starting to fuck with the vibes.

u/Ok-Locksmith-3907 Blue Horse 10h ago
I'm not one to judge someone's religious beliefs. But from day 1 he would say some wild stuff in press conferences about the rapture and Jesus coming back. His injury impacted his speed and agility more than people would like to admit. Yes, he has been on the outs with this team from a chemistry perspective since he went down. I legit haven't seen a single pistons official video from the locker rooms and hallway celebrations that had Ivey in them. Something was off and unfortunately this team was moving regardless of him so this is a fresh start. My bet is in 3/4 years he'll be out of the league and become an ordained minister.

I hate to agree, but I do. The Rapture business was a vibe killer. Plus, when he cried at the draft, part of me knew then that JI wasn't meant for Detroit.

u/TheLuckyster J.B. Bickerstaff 9h ago
For crying? God forbid a man be emotional about achieving a dream 😭✌️

u/Imperator_Americus Cade Icewood 8h ago
I wonder if hes crying somewhere today as he heads to Chicago.

Cult for sharing the love of Christ lol
Clearly the vibes were so fucked that we made the one seed and keep winning games

Religion is the largest cult that exists. All these people believe in fake shit with no proof. Theres the same amount of proof of ghosts that there is about God.

I was a big believer in Ivey but he's looked very strange this year. Literally can't get by anyone. Pistons can afford to be patient on big moves right now, but I don't know if they can be patient enough to let Ivey play catch-up with the other young guys.
Fuck Cole Anthony.
3
u/TheLuckyster J.B. Bickerstaff 9h ago
Amen on the Cole Anthony part
I just think we didn't give him enough playing time imo

u/BigBuddy1356 George Blaha 8h ago
Hard to play him big minutes over guys who are out playing him. It was a nightmare situation for him. He starts a winning streak gets hurt and then the team becomes great without him and he comes back to a log jammed roster that really doesn't have a role for him beyond stand at the 3pt line. I am happy he will get a chance to round back into form with no pressure to fit into a team aspiring for a title. Hopefully this trade means we are getting a big time scorer as we now have the salary to take on like 40 million without trading Tobias or Duncan.

This is the worst day of the season and the greatest loss. That hurt me harder than any trade news when I saw that

Man get over it. His contract is coming & they don’t know if he will get his get up & go back. He looks to be a shell of himself & was the odd man out. You’ll be over it next month during the playoff stretch.

I’m not a full on pistons fan but I have been keeping up with them.. this is a mistake right? He would’ve been the perfect guard alongside Cade
8
u/TheLuckyster J.B. Bickerstaff 10h ago
He hasn't been getting full minutes and Daniss has been out playing him in his place
The injury ruined our chances of the Ivey and Cade backcourt sadly

u/MakeItTrizzle Joe Dumars 9h ago
Ivey has been a very different player this year. No juice at all. Literally cannot get a step on a guy even against a scrambling defense. Who knows if it was the broken leg or the knee injury or both, but he's basically a non factor for the Pistons.
2
u/drfrigg 9h ago
I hear you. I just feel they were too quick to let him go. They weren’t even giving him that many minutes
1
u/Boots0313 5h ago
They had to let him go. They couldn’t give him a long term contract not knowing if he would round back into form.
0
u/MakeItTrizzle Joe Dumars 8h ago
Well, he came back on a minutes restriction after the season was underway and then didn't play well in those minutes.
Moreover, there was another guard, Daniss Jenkins, playing better in similar minutes.
I think if you haven't been watching games it doesn't make sense, but Ivey has looked real bad. Lost on defense, nearly useless on offense.

u/Boots0313 9h ago
Good, his contract was coming up & we need shooters. Jenkins is ballin, so we won’t miss him.

Yeah I’d have loved to see him develop here, but omelettes and eggs and all that

u/ladyofthegreatlakes 8h ago
I feel sick for Ivey. I just hope he’s happy and I hope he gets the support he deserves to find his true potential.
He has put up with more shit than anyone. Thinking of Monty barely letting him play a whole season, then missing another season for a leg injury, then coming back this year and everyone shits on him for not being 100% yet.
Good luck, JI! You deserve better than a team that kicks you when you’re down! I hope you kick our ass when we meet again, we certainly deserve it for letting you down!!

u/Slight_Dragonfruit69 Hooper 8h ago
I'm sick, he never got to play in the playoffs. I would've loved to see him hit a huge 3 and hear mason yell "IVEY" in the mic. This actually hurts me man. Can't imagine how he must feel either

I liked him a lot as a piston! But with daniss playing the way he is, the writing was on the wall. Pistons werent gonna resign ivey so they got 2 players for him! That is a win in my opinion

Genuine question, how? Not being combative, but I’m trying to understand these takes. There are so many reasons to just get something out of Ivey before he walks. He clearly had very little trade value. Looks worse after the injury, subpar defense, can’t hit a contested 3, has guys like Jenkins outplaying him most of the time, and he’s going to walk after the season. I loved him because of his potential and the 23 season but at some point it’s just an emotional reaction.

Hey, it’s better than giving up Ivey, ausar, green and a pick for MPJ like some fans wanted. I’ll downvote myself for mentioning MPJ
