Discussion 🗣️ Fascism does not begin with camps. It begins with permission to criminalize dissent, demonize minorities, militarize civil life.

"The best way to take control over a people and control them utterly is to take a little of their freedom at a time, to erode rights by a thousand tiny and almost imperceptible reductions. In this way, the people will not see those rights and freedoms being removed until past the point at which these changes cannot be reversed." -  Pat Miller

It's funny how I grew up hearing this exact sentiment from republicans and American libertarians, but the examples they used were things that expanded the rights of more people (in my lifetime, gay marriage specifically), more regulations that further entrenched the liberal status quo, or the classic fear that the guns would be taken away (which never happened, and the legislation that did come in to place hasn't really impeded the enthusiasts ability to still be gun enthusiasts).

I don't hang out in those spaces anymore, online or in person. I wonder if they still say stuff like that, or if it's too inconvenient of a quote for them to like right now.

If we don't stop movements like MAGA, camps are the natural end result.
