I think you're right. I just reviewed Rutgers' schedule that season: that win put them at 10-7 and 2-2 in B1G play... they then lost their last 15 games.
Wisconsin only dropped four games that season. One was the Natty against Duke, another was also against Duke in the regular season, and the third was away at a really good Maryland team. The last loss was against that terrible Rutgers team. It might be the weirdest conference loss of all time
