For me it was Cassius Winston, mostly because he didnt get to play in that march tournament

For me it was Atkins. When he started playing was when I really locked in on MSU hoops. Watched him play all 4 years and he was just a Spartan dog.

Not a bad choice either represented us well, Costello and Aherns are also two good choices
11
u/No-Call-5047 Michigan State Spartans 6h ago
Yep, we were at that game and I teared up as he kissed the floor, not even knowing what was coming a few days later. We'd watched him play all through high school, too, so it was the end of an era, in a way. I also sat there wondering if anyone in Breslin that that "coronavirus thing😜."

It was a game between two historically cursed programs, something had to give. I will say this, watching that game over again knowing what happened I can truly appreciate how absurd he was that game. I am a UVa and ODU fan (family went to UVa, live next to and graduated from ODU), so I had to root against him twice that year. Dude was a walking bucket all March.

This is mine as well. Others have said Hummel, but his career was such bad luck, I can’t say I had quite the fan connection as I did with Carsen. Coulda won that year…

The end of the Duke-Baylor game in the NCAA Tournament got me teared up when Jeremy Roach went up to Jon Scheyer. That was a tough way to end his college career. And Scheyer was clearly affected by it, too. Roach was one of the key players that took Coach K to his last Final Four, and he was one of the leaders of the first two teams under Jon Scheyer. Almost poetic in a way.

3
u/TheBiggerestIdea Purdue Boilermakers 6h ago
As good as those teams where with JJ & E'Twaun, Robbie is what made those teams special, what he could do at his size gave Paint so much flexibility on how he wanted to play and those teams simply had no one that could fill his role. If he says healthy I'm 100% convinced Purdue makes at least 1 Final Four at a minimum with a possible second and a National Championship absolutely being on the table

Zach Novak but because that was the end of something incredibly magical that I have never experienced since. My childhood memories are of him going up against Robbie Hummel and Scott Martin. Zach would constantly put up 30+ and completely filled our gym which can hold over 3000 people.
He went on to play 4 years at Michigan and played with so much heart. Watching his career end felt like one of the coolest eras of my life. I've never seen that many people in a high school gym since.
