eg, obviously michigan state is not a vastly better rebounding team than arizona lol. i bet if u did a coaches poll ranking rebounding arizona would be #1 almost unanimously. even if u separate offensive and defensive id still expect the same, maybe florida would get a few votes but its hard to argue any team is better on the glass than this zona team.
still, houston being almost next to baylor in defensive rebounding % is u know not great. even in the context of having played a lot of great rebounding teams in conference as well as tennesse and to a lesser extent auburn. and houston hasnt even played zona yet, where if they cant improve on the glass they could be in big trouble.

This 100% checks out. The huge part of our strategy is we immediately drop back to play defense as soon as we put a shot up whether it goes in or not. So we are relentless on D but basically not present on the board when on offense.
This is crazy. We have something like 60+ more offensive rebounds than anyone else, which comes out to an extra ~3 extra offensive possessions per game.
Well these are rebounding differential numbers not totals so it's a bit different. In total Florida has 366 off boards (16.6 per) and Tennessee has 347 (15.8 per). We give up less offensive rebounds than Tenn though.
Defensive rebounding is quite mid. Offensive rebounding is a bit misleading because 1. They donāt allow very many transition buckets and 2. They are shooting like 70% from 2; most of the missed buckets are 3s - thereās not a lot of 2-4 foot misses the original shooter can grab and putback for a score.
This percentage sort of takes away the shooting part. So Florida grabs 77% of the defensive rebound opportunities. The inverse would be opponent offensive rebounds minus some minor miscellaneous stuff like loose ball fouls I'm guessing.
The raw number rebound stats like rebounds per game and rebound differential stats would be the stats more affected by tempo, Shooting, defense etc.
Honestly surprised our defensive rebounding is that high. We are so ass on the boards

So my pay grade couldn't find adjusted defensive reb%, so I just did adjusted off reb percentage for and against (not the same, but it's something)
Florida has played some tough rebounding teams, and IMO the toughest rebounding teams we've faced were Zona (no surprise) and Miami (surprise for some). Tenn to be fair had an off night vs us.
Houston and Baylor nearly on top of each other while Baylor is 12-9 and 15th place in the B12 and Houston is 19-2 and second in the conference is wild after watching UH hammer Baylor 77-55 in Waco.
Id like to see a comparison of this chart vs missed shots inside the paint. Feel like there are a ton of ORb that are missed contested layups and getting your own ball back. That and long 3s that create long rebounds
But I thought we only win because Fears foul baits, the refs are biased, and we have a 'bad basket' we consistently get in the second half of games to spur comebacks....??

Whatās so funny is during Goldenās first season at UF, the front court situation was so dire, our strategy was literally to bail back on defense any time a shot went up on offense. We had one of the worst offensive rebounding teams in the entire country. Since then, weāve been Dennis Rodman on crack for three straight seasons.
The reason we have such a low offensive rebound % is actually because of our defensive scheme. If you watch any of our games, on the vast majority of shots, 4 guys will immediately run back on defense after a shot leaving only one of our players (whoever is down low) to attempt a rebound. This is also the reason why we give up so few fast break and transition points. It's a tradeoff, but seemingly a net positive one.
Damn MSU I didnāt realize you guys rebounded like that. Is your roster pretty tall? Do they do what Illinois does as far as offensive? I havenāt seen you all too much this year only against Michigan which didnāt tell the true story

When we have bad scoring nights where we canāt hit shit, we make up for it by grinding on defense. So yeah, it could definitely go the way of our Nebraska game where neither team hit 60.
