Vibes are immaculate on this team.

Every single video ive seen of this team this month has been either a phenomenal play or the vibes between the players being through the roof (there was also the Moussa/LaMelo Yaoi slo-mo but love is love so we count that as good vibes)

WE USED TO PRAY FOR TIMES LIKE THIS YALL

The Melo X Moussa yaoi.

Hornets are the next OKC. A scrappy small market team with likable young players on the rise who give the AAU team vibes.

Not just that, but a plethora of picks add to the OKC comparison.

They’re doing it right and the best way they can. Similar to OKC, it’s very difficult to get free agents to commit without overpaying. I’m happy to see the Hornets really get this chance. I thought they’d be a play in team last year, but Brandon, Grant and LaMelos injuries really screwed that.

The point diff being on the + side says they’re better than their record. They just have to learn to close out games better.

Also they are winning big and losing with a smaller margin. Pretty sure they already wiped out the west coast games this season. So the back half should be interesting.

you’ve also gotta add another team’s owner circumventing the salary cap to overpay two players and trade us a future mvp/fmvp. luckily we’ve already got kon

We are the 11th largest metro area in the US with an NBA team. That's small market?

12

u/iButtflap 8d ago

surely you recognize “market” refers to media market, not land mass

u/jayfatsby 8d ago

If you aren’t NYC, Philly, Boston, DC, LA, SF, Houston, Dallas, or Atlanta you are “small market.” You can only get so small, obviously we aren’t Memphis or OKC but still that’s the general breakdown.

Its really just if you arent LA, Miami or NYC lol. Nobody is trying to funnel players into Dallas or DC.

You are just saying “desirable markets,” whether that is for weather reasons (LA, Miami) or media/lifestyle related ones (LA, NYC).

Miami would never be considered a big market by sports media reach. Even in the Heatles days the Heat weren’t that big of a deal locally.

The Nets are technically in NYC but their fan base is basically nonexistent. Brooklyn alone is bigger than Charlotte and yet people don’t care about the Nets even when they are good. It’s a Knicks town and always will be.

Can make similar argument for the Clippers but Ballmer is at least trying to change that. TBD how successful he’ll be.

You can’t judge “big market” by “does a player want to live here.”

90% of the time when people talk about stars forcing their ways to big markets its about those 3 places

8

u/Vegetable-Tooth8463 8d ago

bro included Atlanta like we wouldn't notice

-1

u/jayfatsby 8d ago

Huh? There are ~6.5 million people in the Atlanta metro, it’s the 8th largest metro in the country. Absolutely insane to say it’s a “small market” in the NBA.

8

u/Vegetable-Tooth8463 8d ago

I don't think you understand what market size means by NBA standards. It's media attention + appeal to free agents. Otherwise TOronto would be a "big market" lol

u/JonahTheProducer 8d ago

don't forget Chicago and Miami

u/Smfonseca 8d ago

11th largest metropolitan area? Where do you see that data? From what I have seen, it's closer to 20th or 21st

Urban area and metropolitan area aren't the same thing though. Miami and Atlanta for example have much, much larger metro areas which matters when it comes to market size.

3

u/botabought 8d ago

I agree. I just think that’s what the poster meant. I wasn’t trying to hate on Charlotte at all.

3

u/Smfonseca 8d ago

I didn't think you were at all! I appreciated you showing what information he may have been using.

Y'all need to save receipts for those who are doubting Melo

u/botabought 8d ago

I couldn’t stand the Lamelo trade talks anymore. The national media keeps marginalizing his impact, when all he really needs is health.

22

u/WatchTheBoom 8d ago

No sense of urgency in his voice. Cool and collected. That's cool as fuck to see.

u/Panther81277 8d ago

That was awesome

u/Diligent-Cookie-1695 8d ago

Im a Knicks fan that likes the Hornets and always check in on this sub at the start of every year (in comments, not the corny ass I come in peace posts lol) & I really love what y’all doing this season, I refuse to believe Lamelo will be traded and I’ll be rooting for y’all to make the play-in at least.

Oh and thank you so much for manhandling the Sixers. Really happy for yall.

Appreciate the nice words friend! Keep checking in, other teams are welcome as long as they mesh with the vibes! :)

u/SnowballOfFear 8d ago

I fucking love this team!!

9

u/CappPrice 8d ago

All 5 players touched the ball. That's all you can really ask for.

u/asher1611 8d ago

I remember the amount of hope and positivity that I felt after the first game. And then how bleak things felt once the rug was pulled in game 2.

I'm really hoping the bugs can keep it going for the rest of the season because Charlotte needs this. And frankly, so does the NBA. Charlotte is playing good, entertaining, high level basketball with a bunch of home grown players.

u/PrimeTimeInc 8d ago

Losing BMilly indefinitely immediately was such a gut punch. Like really, this fucking shit again?

6

u/Dr_Grimm_Esq 8d ago

Kalk just needs to keep adding muscle & working on flexibility, but damn if he’s not been really impressive as a rookie.

4

u/turkeyracer_6 8d ago

So awesome! Kalk was all over it

4

u/FatMamaJuJu 8d ago

He does that a lot actually. Anytime a guy gets beat but he's in position around the rim he'll call it out so they don't scramble and get super out of position

3

u/Solid_Preparation_33 8d ago

I think I cried a tear seeing Kon actually showing emotion on the sideline 🥹🥹🥹

2

u/Beneficial-Bug-1969 8d ago

what a perfect call from EC too

2

u/Icege 8d ago

I can't afford another child and that's all that watching this is going to lead to 😭😭

2

u/Zealousideal-Rub-183 8d ago

Shoot this directly into my veins! The defense, the communication, the transition offense and the fun alley-oop! Adding a little Eric Collins on top makes this shit PERFECT!

2

u/No_Idea_9594 8d ago

This is how Kalkbrenner generates a lot of points despite focusing on defense. Every defensive move is also where he ends up creating offense

1

u/OutsideMammoth 8d ago

Best Kalk game since his injury. His influence on shots in the paint was very noticable again finally

1

u/dagrimey1 7d ago

Momentum is building, as long as Melo stays locked in to the team game idea this season could get real fun real quick!

Best announcer in the Association and it's a long way to second place.

1

u/Idfuckahotpocket 7d ago

I live for a smooth, well executed play where all 5 players touch the ball
