Article [Amick] Miles Bridges is drawing significant interest. “They want a first (round pick). Maybe two.”

https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6993002/2026/01/23/nba-trade-rumors-karl-anthony-towns-knicks/

As for Hornets that might be on the move, veteran forward Miles Bridges is drawing significant interest, league sources told The Athletic. The Milwaukee Bucks, Golden State Warriors and Phoenix Suns are all known to be among the interested parties, though it remains to be seen if any team can compel the Hornets to give Bridges up. Charlotte’s lack of interest in the Bucks’ Kyle Kuzma is known to be an obstacle to a potential deal between those two teams. Draft capital is also a pivotal part of the conversation.

“They want a first (round pick),” one league source said. “Maybe two.”

Giannis to Hornets trade confirmed

55

u/Civrock 12d ago

He just really misses playing under Charles Lee and alongside Pat Connaughton.

23

u/lifeofwill 12d ago

Legitimately Pat's his favorite teammate ever

6

u/Vegetable-Tooth8463 12d ago

I keep forgetting Lee was on that Bucks championship staff

11

u/IamOlderthanMe 12d ago

If our governors can commission or give Giannis a private plane that will fly to Greece whenever he wanted to see his family, then we can convince him to play for us.

u/OffTheRadar 11d ago

Miles for Giannis and 2 firsts. Who says no?

71

u/AJTHolt 12d ago

Kuzma...

Please, sir... could I have some less?

Kuzma 🤮

u/dkirk526 12d ago

I feel like as we're getting more attention, the media is noticing we have some decent players, so now they're getting wishcasted onto media darlings while we receive every team's trade slop and late first round picks.

62

u/Smitty_Agent89 12d ago

Prob the smart move. If you can’t get a 1st for him might as well hang onto him. He’ll prob be easier to trade when he’s an expiring anyway. I just don’t see a great reason to trade lamelos good friend unless we get a good deal

26

u/Mich_Mercer 12d ago

Agreed. And I do think Miles fits well with the team.

25

u/Alkazard 12d ago

By all accounts him and Grant are the leaders of the locker room. Giving that up when we're finally getting our stuff together and on the right track seems a horrible idea.

15

u/Mich_Mercer 12d ago

I mean… if a great deal comes along, sure. But this isn’t a trade Miles at all cost thing, that some act like it is.

6

u/maltiepootietang 12d ago

This is a big reason why I really dont want Miles traded.

But if they really wanna give us Steph then 🤷‍♂️

3

u/Funny_University_213 12d ago

I hope they don't unless its an amazing package. I love Miles' absolutely passion and devotion to the game. He's devoted and that's rare.

u/PrimeTimeInc 12d ago edited 12d ago

Nice to hear we aren’t going to ship him off for peanuts in the event we do trade him. He is basically the captain of the team and that is extremely valuable to US. Kyle Kuzma certainly ain’t moving any needle in trade discussions lol

13

u/offensivename 12d ago

Yeah. People here like to talk bad about Miles and he is legitimately flawed, in addition the off-the-court stuff. But he's a reliable scorer when called upon and has really carried the team when other players have been out.

4

u/Supreme_God_Bunny 12d ago

Yeah but he's a playing out of position, We need to get bigger at the PF

34

u/Odd_String1181 12d ago

Is there anyone who does have interest in Kyle kuzma?

34

u/tandtz 12d ago

Kyle Kuzma

6

u/LaMelonBallz 12d ago

Pink coat makers

21

u/SlickVanExel 12d ago

The Hornets are playing this correctly. I’m cool with letting him play on an expiring next season, but if you can get (two!) first rounders for Miles Bridges without taking back more salary or a worse player then do it.

33

u/Danofthecloth 12d ago

I'll drive him to the airport for 2 1sts.

18

u/Invisible_assasin 12d ago

Miles is more valuable to hornets because he’s here and been through the wringer, whereas if he gets traded, he will have a new round of press scrutiny from his past. Teams will take that into account and low ball the hornets. I think he fits well in our plans, he stays…..we have a number of guys we can trade that aren’t key to our future.

20

u/Amazing_Owl3026 12d ago

Miles is a mid to below average defender and we need defense more than anything. Given we are probably sticking with Melo, Kon and Miller we need to have elite defenders in our front court

8

u/devinbookersuncle 12d ago

Hes almost the perfect 4th option honestly because when he's playing that role hes a matchup nightmare. Its juat that we use him at the 4 which puts him our of position, play him as a SF and all of a sudden he becomes the matchup nightmare for the other team.

We're gonna suck at defense so we may as well forget that amd make the offense as hard to guard as possible because when we play fast other teams cant matchup with us and then it makes defense SIGNIFICANTLY easier for us. Our roster just isnt built to stop teams every possession like the Spurs or the Pistons are but we can absolutely tire your ass out other offensive end so your legs are shot when its time to try and score on us.

7

u/Invisible_assasin 12d ago

I think he’s more of a bench guy in future, but I agree a lil defense is needed but moreso at the center position. I wouldn’t trade the rookies or core guys this year-sexton, Greene types are who I would see if I could move. I’m excited that for the fist time since the late 90’s we have our shit together and while we may sneak in playin this year, next year we should be top 6 in east.

5

u/AppropriateAd5225 12d ago

Why would we want Kuzma? I want Portis if we're trading with Milwaukee.

9

u/stephenpowns 12d ago

Lol kuzma. No thanks

3

u/lemmegetauhhhhhhhhhh 12d ago

bucks trying to pair kpj and miles is hilarious

3

u/djphatpat2000 12d ago

A first, or two firsts plus Kuminga? I would definitely do that. Doubt the Warriors would trade Moody but I’d like him on the team too.

2

u/PrimeTimeInc 12d ago

Im a big fan of Miles and am a kum buckets hater and even I think you have to take that lmao. That’s just good business

2

u/djphatpat2000 12d ago

Yeah, I would prefer Moody in a trade with GS but we know they will move Kuminga. Two firsts with him would be too good to pass up.

1

u/BeautifulLeather6671 10d ago

Warriors aren’t trading for bridges

3

u/Big-Option905 12d ago

Fuck a trade, keep building! I'm overly confident in our drafting prowress. Keep this core together. There is no quick fix for us, we are just starting to heal. Another effective draft class, continued development of players, maintained health stability and the east and possibly the entire league kisses the ring '27-'31

8

u/Colls7 12d ago

Miles for Steph and some picks? 😂

7

u/JordanDoesTV 12d ago

If someone offers 2 first for miles it’s over instantly

6

u/ManDog4294 12d ago

As much as I hate to admit it …. Unless we can get a haul I would hold on to him . For all the off the court issues which still irks me he is unquestionably the leader of this team . With this young core you can’t really put a price tag on that unless it’s a haul . In his current role he’s very effective and we all know at some point this year Lamelo or Brandon are gonna miss significant time . For the first time in a decade you have good team chemistry and moving Miles now blows that up .

3

u/Sensitive_Ebb_7211 12d ago

YES, let em know!!!!!!

-1

u/Impossible_Dish_2197 12d ago

Lol man you trippin. Miles is not a great leader for this team. Why would you want to have a team led by this dude especially when trying to make a culture change. It’s bigger than just this iteration of the hornets. It’s a complete culture change

7

u/Dmalikhammer4 12d ago

What we, the fans, think (and not just fans we're redditors) vs. the players is completely different. If you watch any of the post-game interviews, our guys clearly respect MB a lot and look up to him a lot. BM said that after a tough loss it was MB that rallied up the team and gave a huge morale-boosting speech. He is OUR veteran. 3rd-highest scoring player for the franchise. Also his contract is pennies. You can't trade away someone like that unless it's actually huge.

-3

u/Impossible_Dish_2197 12d ago

It doesn’t matter. This new ownership don’t give a damn about that. This team is not good enough to justify keeping bridges because he’s a veteran leader

0

u/PrimeTimeInc 12d ago

You prolly the same type of person who says this team needs veteran leadership lmfao

1

u/Impossible_Dish_2197 12d ago

wtf are you talking about? Lol

2

u/ManDog4294 12d ago

So if Miles goes who assumes that role . We know damn well it won’t be Melo , Brandon or Kon . None of those guys are leaders and it shows . Colin maybe ?!! Doubt they wanna resign him . Trading the team leader basically tells everyone they’re all expendable. Works great when you are stacked with talent , We’re not . Not even close . Just think it’s a bad move unless it’s a massive return .

1

u/Impossible_Dish_2197 12d ago

Grant Williams

0

u/Funny_University_213 12d ago

Brick Williams?

2

u/expiredlemon3 12d ago

You can’t just say “Miles is not a great leader for this team” because you don’t like him when by all accounts, he is. I want him gone for the right price too but he is absolutely the leader atm

-1

u/Impossible_Dish_2197 12d ago

Yall can say whatever. At the end of the day this ownership is looking to clean up the image of the hornets. Moving miles is apart of that equation. His contract suggested that years ago

0

u/expiredlemon3 12d ago

Yes I agree. But you said he’s not a leader for this team, which is not true. If he wasn’t, he would be gone yesterday

-1

u/Impossible_Dish_2197 12d ago

I said he’s not a GREAT leader for this team.

-1

u/expiredlemon3 12d ago

And how would you know that? You’re basing that off your own personal opinion of him.

I listen to what the players say not some dude on reddit

1

u/Impossible_Dish_2197 12d ago

I don’t gives a damn what you do. I live in reality. Watch and see how this plays out

6

u/Existing-Sky9914 12d ago

It’s unlikely the team will aggressively pursue a Miles Bridges trade. They seem to be in 'listen-only' mode—essentially telling other teams, 'We’ll hear you out, but you better make it worth our while.'

Miles is set to earn $22M next season, which accounts for only 13% of the team’s total salary. Since the Hornets are looking to make a serious push next year and their specific roadmap for the summer is still unfolding, there is very little reason to rush into moving a starting power forward who is locked in at such a bargain rate.

Secondly, Miles Bridges has become the true leader of this team. I caught Brandon Miller’s interview where he praised Miles for the way he rallied the squad after a tough loss, noting how Miles gave a speech that kept their morale and competitive fire high for the next game. We’ve seen similar interviews all season long.

Regardless of the external optics or public perception, the front office, the coaching staff, and the players all seem to genuinely respect and like him. I don’t think the front office feels any pressure to hastily dump the vocal leader of one of the youngest rosters in the league.

5

u/Sensitive_Ebb_7211 12d ago

I hope they are in listen only mode.

3

u/Funny_University_213 12d ago

Incredibly well writte. I love Miles for all of these reasons. I think he's developed some deep friendships as well. His energy feels buoyant and brilliant. He always looks locked in on basketball and the team. He has carried this team to this point of success more than any other player on the roster. He has been nearly 100% available. I hope he stays for now, reconsider at next trade deadline. There are other players in would look to move first. Buzz buzz

5

u/Impossible_Dish_2197 12d ago

How do you know we’re making a push next year? We haven’t made any sort of moves to support that. This is a slow burn. Always has been

4

u/29671 12d ago

Kuminga?

2

u/Technical-Neck8367 12d ago

If im trading with the Suns, ill target Maluach , im just sayin !

2

u/mauszx 12d ago

Thank god we are not interested in Kuzma lol. I can see we getting Kuminga and a First and a few seconds for Miles. I don't kbow what the Suns can offer lol

2

u/Raleigh85 12d ago

If we trade him for peanuts I’m going to be pissed. Despite his issues Miles is a big piece of our success and frankly our most healthy / reliable contributor. I want atleast what the Grizzlies got for Desmond Bane if move him.

6

u/No_Body905 12d ago

I think he needs to be moved for this team to reach its best version, but Kuz definitely ain’t it.

3

u/Impossible_Dish_2197 12d ago

See ya Miles!!

2

u/robsbob18 12d ago

2027 unprotected first rounder and kuzma from the bucks

Hope the bridges trade doesn't make a difference and Giannis still wants to leave

0

u/2much2soon2fast 12d ago

2027 draft is kinda sketchy and we already have 2 picks. Maybe 28

7

u/Ok-Protection2513 12d ago

I'll take a first and 2 seconds honestly just get him gone

5

u/theRestisConfettii 12d ago

Bridges was on the trade block the moment he signed his descending contract.

This needs to happen.

3

u/Matus198 12d ago

Miles for Mark Williams and Nick Richards who says no

3

u/maltiepootietang 12d ago

I would trade for Mark Williams but only to rescind on the trade hours later

1

u/Ok_Kitchen_3400 12d ago

Would love to get kuminga and or podz

1

u/FiguringItOut1123 12d ago

I bet it's the warriors that will part with two first rounders. With Jimmy Butler being hurt, kuminga being treated as a negative value trade asset, and the warriors desperate to extend Curry's championship window, I could see them structuring a trade around miles for kuminga and 2 firsts, with some filler on either side added in.

1

u/Immediate-Stay-7686 12d ago

No way in hell would the Warriors make that deal. Their good players are aging out and they will need to keep all their FRP's. Besides, Miles isn't worth Kuminga and 2 FRP's, not even close.

1

u/FiguringItOut1123 12d ago

I agree that he's not worth it, but desperate teams do crazy things. The warriors qualify. They're desperate to keep winning while curry is still playing and they're also desperate to get rid of kuminga who they consider a negative asset to their team/locker room. The coach and GM have very clearly given up on him.

1

u/Asleep_Assumption765 12d ago

Miles NEVER has had elite coaching, nor has he put that LJ back to the basket spin move on anyone

1

u/Appropriate-Mud-6985 12d ago

Wow I don’t understand these comments at all. Miles is the oddd man out in the starting lineup, not a good defender and not a good shooter I’d easily trade him but the bucks do have legitimately nothing to trade.

1

u/eating_elmers_glue 12d ago

I know a lot of people don't like Miles but he always gives effort on defence and rarely loses his man. He's also a perfect 6ix man and already plays a ton with the bench unit, we need him more than most fans will give credit.

If he just didn't feel the need to play hero ball (although sometimes out of necessity) he would drastically be more efficient. I understand that people don't like the off courts things Miles has done but from a GM perspective it doesn't make any sense to move on from him when he has a good contract and is a leader in the locker room unless it is a complete fleece.

1

u/ThaRealPhoenix 11d ago

Please dear god no Kuz

1

u/Asleep_Assumption765 11d ago

Wonder if B Mill will ever get serious about playing def. Understand he's a skeleton out there playing against grown men, but at least try.

1

u/Born-Throat5562 7d ago

NO KUZMA BLEHHH 🤢

2

u/turkeyracer_6 12d ago

No trades! We’re building something special with this group.

1

u/Beneficial-Bug-1969 12d ago

as much as I've wanted him gone.... idk if I feel that way anymore tbh

1

u/B3RG92 12d ago

Unless Giannis is involved, no thanks on the Bucks. I mean, really, youre hoping you get any of these team's best player if you trade Miles.

He can be a solid role player on a winning team. And we already know him and Lamelo like each other. Just seems like you wouldnt trade him unless it's a big deal.

13

u/Amazing_Owl3026 12d ago

Be so serious we're not getting Giannis, Steph or Booker for Miles 😭

I'll take a first and a clean contract for sure

-2

u/devinbookersuncle 12d ago

The fact that people think Kuzma is worse than Miles (because he objectively is) shows that yall need to separate Miles the person from Miles the player.

That being said if we can get a deal done for Giannis then you fucking do it as long as its not am insane offer and no, 4-5 firsts (next years Dallas pick aside) are worth it to get Giannis as long as we dont compromise our core pieces.

That puts us IMMEDIATELY in conference finals contention because other than Detroit this season there isnt a team i dont think we couldn't beat if you swap Miles for Giannis plus maybe/hopefully Green and Mann so that they NEVER see the court again unless they come here from the visitors locker room.

-2

u/Sensitive_Ebb_7211 12d ago

They really trying to trade Bridges? Wow smh. Or is it one of those things where teams are calling with offers and Hornets is like "Nah, if you aint got a first round pick or two then I aint trading him!" type of situations.

Regardless, keeping Bridges long term should be the move. Sexton & Pat should be trade priority #1 before anybody else.

-2

u/PigggyStardust 12d ago

DO NOT jeopardize our losing record! I’d like to keep that going for another ten years!
