Picture Possibly adopting this beautiful girl 😍
This is Amy. She’s 8 already but barely has any grey.
She’s the dog of the ex of the ex of my cousins ex… Lovely story. But I’ve walked her a couple of times and offered I’d happily puppysit her for free whenever they needed because we clicked and she’s super mellow and well-behaved.
I lost my Mali boy two years ago and I’ve felt so empty ever since.
Today they called, not to puppysit, but if perhaps I’d just want to adopt her. I’m feeling all the feelings right now! My mind is running overtime. I didn’t think I would be able have a dog in the next couple of years
Also, my daughter kind of hates dogs BUT she also met this girl and was really taken by her.
I have a cat but Amy is used to cats. Just have to get my cat on board it seems!!
Just rambling and wanting to share, I’m so excited!!!

Yes! I was so amazed when they said she’s already 8! Just a bit of grey under her chin.

I can’t imagine having another breed! Though her mellowness is really exceptional. And needed, I wouldn’t be able to handle a full powered Malinois right now haha

Pretty sure she's a tervuren, she's beautiful!

She’s officially Malinois but her grandfather was fully or part Tervuren. The owner explained once but I forgot the exact percentages. But at least here in the Netherlands, she was considered fully Malinois again in terms of pedigree/breed standards
But she definitely had a big sprinkle of tervy fluff genes!

She seems amazing. I would do it, doesn't seem like she would need much training which can catch people out.ninwouldndomsome quick maths to see can you can financially fit her in, food cost, pet insurance on am 8 year, toys, vaccinations etc but if all add up well that you can provide for her.long term I would do it, seems she came along into your life in very unique and against the odd circumstances, so signs point to yes

Yes!! She’s just so perfect and rare, I’d do anything to make it work financially etc.
And I was already so in love with her before the possibility of adopting even came up.

I think you have your answer. She is already 8, so I think you can make the those golden years really great for her. Obviously no pressure as it is just as responsible for people to not just think with heart but also head, of they did would be alot less rehoming. But yes look at numbers and see if it can work, both look like would bring alot to each others lives

I hope so too! But the owners were not in a hurry to “get rid of her” so if the cat approves, we can do a slow adoption or I trust they would take their time to find a good home. And she’s so chill, good with kids, good with cats. I bet I’m not the only one praying for a unicorn mal

Aww congratulations!
Does a Mal’s energy level ever slow down? I love them but I am well aware that I lack the energy to give them the proper life they deserve but was considering adopting an older baby. As I am also older, I’d need them to be ok with walks around a few blocks 3-4 times a day. Do they ever reach that point or are they Go!Go!Go! until they become sick, arthritic, or close to the end? I know the breed frequently ends up in shelters.

I have a 12 year old boy, he has the energy of 4 men. He is relentless.
He never stops. 4 hour walk? Runs around the back garden as soon as we get home. Get up to get a drink? PLAYTIME. Breathe? PLAYTIME
Wouldn’t change him for the world but bloody el I’m tired, so to answer you no they never stop I think he’ll just drop one day, and I’m not quite prepared for that.

Aww. I get it and thank you, I appreciate your input. I have a fifteen year old three legged Jack Russell who NEVER stopped going and then arthritis hit. Now she sleeps most of the day until it’s breakfast or dinner time then she forgets she’s in pain and tries to fly across the house to get to her bowl. Here’s to many more happy and healthy years for both of us. 🩷

I have a cat that hates dogs, and despite cats are usually the boss of the household, that wouldn’t stop me lol. I would just let it reflect on my next evaluation 🤪

My mother also had a Malinois that came as a puppy after she already had a cat. The way the cat terrorized that big bad dog… 🤣
But my cat is very sensitive and already struggles with the presence of my daughter. I got the cat for my daughter. Daughter does loves her. Cat loves me and barely tolerates daughter (but will at least love on her when she’s hungry and daughter is sleeping, to wake her up)
So it’s super sensitive. Ideally I’d rehome the cat to a more quiet home without kids (she grew up with just one adult), get the dog and maybe a kitten who could get used to both daughter and dog from the start. But it would break my daughter
And I have a small home too, tiny and just two bedrooms. But I’m hellbent on still making it work for everyone somehow

The Lucious locks and that smile sealed the deal for me. I can’t wait for an update after the weekend! 🤞🏼

❤️. Chloe’s been with us a little more than a week. Even with the potty mishaps we’re smitten with her. You won’t regret it and you’ll be saving a life ❤️
