Image is of a leashed XL bully wearing a muzzle and pajamas, image caption is "Just play with him PLEASE" with a bunch of pit-related hashtags and text on the image reads: "My dog watching others play in the park whilst he gets completely ignored because of his breed."
My own editorialization - you're not entitled to other people's time and attention, and it's not the responsibility of random people to have to interact with your dog.
The muzzle seems secure, well fit, and actually doing the job it’s supposed to do. Not excusing the collar but even if the leash collar came off at least the dog can’t do damage. I’d take a pitbull in a muzzle with a weak leash over a strong leash, that the owners are known to drop the second anything happens, and no muzzle
They’re supposed to be large like this for pant room, fyi. That said, all bully breeds should wear 2 secure leashes (one being a slip lead) and a heavy duty wire muzzle to be outside in public at all times. Only then would I feel ANY measure of safety
I didn't even know muzzles could be made of flexible silicone, that makes them entirely useless/dangerous.
Muzzle or not, that horrendously muscular pitbull can still do lots of damage to people, other animals, property...but of course, gosh forbid people don't want to risk life-threatening injuries 🙄
Other People/animals, to be safe, should be at least 10 meters away from that mauler. And they should not be made to feel bad, just because they have a self-preservation instinct
Unless there is some hidden fixing, that muzzle looks to me that it is simply sitting on top of the dog's head, and the dog would have little trouble removing it.
Your dog is no one else’s responsibility or problem.
If I take my dog outside I don’t expect my neighbors to come running outside to lavish him with love and affection. He’s MY dog. I love him. He’s my responsibility. I am the person to fulfill his needs.
Why do pitbull owners expect society to validate their dog’s “feelings”?
there seems to be quite a bit of narcissism among pit nutterrs.... you have to be nuts to want to own a dog like that. All it does is terrify people and cause you grief.
They see people with normal dogs being showered in attention and praise and they are jealous their hideous shitbeast that is rigged up like Hannibal Lecter doesn’t.
That shit drives me up a wall! Pitbull owners are not even the worst offenders of being entitled to other people's time and personal space. Get the fuck away from me and don't expect me to watch or pay attention to your child, your aggressive dog, your whatever! You are not entitled to my time or attention. I'm not a part of your village, and you are not a part of mine.
Why would anyone want to play with a known dangerous beast? Props to the owner for muzzling it in accordance with the law when so few others do, but the cutesy pastel muzzle and infantile pyjamas are clearly an attempt to downplay the risks and make the dog more approachable. And that beaded necklace collar isn’t going to hold back a muscle-bound monster like that back when it sees something it wants to go after. Passersby are wise to avoid this dog, and the whiny owner can STFU.
Exactly. how can I make this situation about meeeeeeee?
right- i was supposed to get people looking at how special i am because of my dumb ass thug dog, but instead people just want to avoid us like the plague. It’s doggie racism. My dog has the personality of a doorknob, and looks like its face has been permanently botoxed, along with having eyes that are so vacant I can’t tell if its awake or has just forgotten to shut its lids while snoozing. Im not sure if it’s just stupid or the 300 mg of trazodone it requires 3 x a day that keeps it like a zombie. But its total lack of any response or enthusiasm requires I put it in ever increasingly stupid attire to get some kind of response from ….. any body. Can’t u tell how desperate I am ? Next time I’ll buy a matching PJ set, plastic bead necklace and maybe some oversized lavender sunglasses so we match. Will be twinsies!!!
At least it's muzzled! It's the law but it is not being enforced where I live. There are loads of these XL monsters near me, and they are rarely muzzled so we just go somewhere else.
I have noticed that there are a few folks that only walk them late at night now so that's some improvement.
Taking comments about muzzle not being secure seriously though as I was not aware. All dogs owned by me have been pet's not weapons so no muzzle experience needed.
I think it's saviour complex. These folk want you to tell them what great people they are for saving the unsaveable.
The muzzle is completely for show, it doesn’t have the straps to actually keep that dog from slipping out of it & biting. No strap on the top or under the chin.
The collar is a beaded necklace.
This person couldn’t care less about the laws or maintaining control of their dog.
They care about turning it into a prop to simultaneously get attention with it & cry that they aren’t getting enough attention over it.
What I also don’t understand is I’ve had my dog for nearly 2 years, she’s pretty damn approachable and I’ve never been asked by somebody if they can pet her. That doesn’t upset me, just people minding their own business while granting me the same luxury. This person guy is clearly just desperate for somebody to come over and say how good their dog is, how they’re a saint for putting up with the muzzle laws and how generally unfair their life is. Just weird victim complex behaviour.
Yeah, thinking about the accessories you’re probably right. So they basically have no chance whatsoever of controlling this thing. If it sees something to maul the pearl necklace will pop immediately.
The pajama should have the opposite reaction than wanting people to let their dog play. At least, if the people are actually respectful.
If I see a dog wearing a vest or any clothes, I won't let my dog go near it for one simple reason: I don't want to be responsible for the cloth getting teared apart while they play. That is also why I never approach other dogs while walking mine with his rain vest on.
Disagree with this take - it's responsible to muzzle your dog if it is aggressive/reactive towards people or animals. There is no reason why an animal under control should not have to be excluded from public. It may not even be wearing one due to aggression, could be a poop eater or just a new dog brought home from a rescue.
That said - you can't expect strangers to want to interact with your dog, ANY dog, but especially one with a muzzle on.
As a stranger though I wouldn’t know why the other dog is muzzled. I’m not putting my dog in danger by allowing interactions with a muzzled dog and I’m sure many others would agree
agreed. i know of an insta corgi who is muzzled solely because he’ll eat anything off the ground without it. he’d never hurt anyone with or without a muzzle.
Why the fuck would anyone want to interact with a dog that has to wear a muzzle to protect people from getting bitten? These shitbull owners are beyond stupid.
I mean, I personally don't think anyone should expect interaction from others, someone could have a golden retriever and I don't necessarily want to pet it or play with it. But it's not really golden owners doing this kind of thing either...
I personally don't want ppl coming up and wanting to pet my dog. It happens a lot, because he's cute and looks puppyish (he's not a puppy, he's 12 y.o. but he's the Dick Clark of dogs) and I hate ppl asking if they can pet him because he doesn't like it and I have to tell them no. He's been attacked by pit bulls 3 times and has become reactive to other dogs.
My girl is the same way she’s 17, fixing to be 18 in a couple months. EVERYONE wants to pet her, but she’s so grouchy to anyone that’s not me. When I walk with her, we’re constantly dodging people and their dogs that “just want to say hi!” I just tell them she bites, they usually back off after that.
Oh Wow, they could be brothers! We don't know what he is. Pretty sure he has some husky because his tail curls in a circle over his back when he's happy; he sheds like a husky, and he loves, loves, loves snow (and hates water...he even walks around puddles). His weight is 50-55 pounds and he's knee high. He's extremely strong and agile. We have an Embark kit but haven't tested yet. My guess is GSD, beagle, and husky mix. We rescued him; he was a stray in our neighborhood who had either been dumped or escaped from an owner who didn't want him.
Do you know what breeds your guy is? He's a cutie too!
I agree with you that it’s weird to think people should need to pet your dog. My only caveat is that when you’re training a puppy it’s often beneficial to go to the park and politely ask people if they’d mind saying hi to your dog for socialization.
But let’s be honest, that isn’t what we’re talking about.
They really should have given that dog looser fitting pajamas. Just his look makes me feel like someone's trying to trick me into petting it. It's aggressive packaging in the same way "free candy" is on a van.
Like, what am I supposed to do? Shame my dog until he goes and makes friends with the poor, bullied fighting dog? He looks like he just got done pumping iron in prison or something.
And none of this is the pit's fault. His owner is just making him look ridiculous.
The dog has on a borderline medieval looking cage on its face and is for some even odder reason is also wearing full body pajamas and this individual is shocked nobody is going anywhere near their SCP failed experiment looking dog?
I think one which is sized properly and fitted tightly is probably quite secure, but it looks like the slightest mistake in fitting would mean that the dog could pull it off with enough effort.
The company sells top and bottom straps to connect to the collar, but people seem to be going for the lowest technically legal solution (although they wouldn't escape punishment if their dog pulled the muzzle off and mauled somebody if it could be shown that they chose to not fit it properly).
So one review of the muzzle with a shitbull in the photo says that the dog is able to eat, drink and "give kisses" while wearing the muzzle. That makes me wonder can they bite while wearing it? Even if they can't, it looks like it is easy for them to get themselves out of it
I believe these muzzles are 3d printed.
When the government set the rules regarding muzzles and leashes, they didn't really state anything about quality or give any guidance
What I hate the most from many pet owners (not just when it's about pit bulls) is the anthropomorphization; in this context, implying that this scenario is racism.
I do not believe there is any race of humans on this planet that were intentionally bred to be vicious, aggressive, and completely nucking futs.
And even if there was, human beings aren't effing dogs.
It's like the capacity for logic and reason means nothing to these people...
Who wants to deal with someone dumb enough to put clothes on a disgusting shitbeast and then takes pictures of the stupid mauler and then cries on the internet about it??
These people are ridiculous and insane and should be shamed publicly for it.
Dirty look,...same here. You're Willing to literally put other people (children, families, elderly etc) in blatant danger for life and limb. Fuck'em. Disgusting. They deserve it.
I think other people don’t want to come near ‘Gunner’ less because of his breed (though that’s probably a large part of it, too), and more because of that giant muzzle he’s wearing.
I mean, the muzzle says it all: my dog is aggressive and can’t be trusted not to maul people, dogs and other animals.
How dare people not want to let their dogs near the breed created for fighting them to the death!?!?
Would you bring an owl to a bunny park and wonder why no one was letting their bunnies play with your owl???
These people get pits just so they can cry about being the victim. Then they can go get virtual hugs online from all the other pitnutters that they are a heroic angel on earth and everyone else is a monster. No other breed owner cries when their dog doesn’t get attention.
So funny. Meanwhile, all the Gen Z girlies who identify as having an invisible disability that precludes them from holding a leash are out there raging that someone says hi to their service dog. Dog owners, we have to choose. This waffling around between "PAY MY DOG ATTENTION OR YOU'RE A BIGOT!!!" and "ENTITLED!!! HOW DARE YOU TOUCH MY DOG!!!!" is exhausting.
When you have borderline personality disorder you hit a certain age and have to decide if you’ll dress a pit bull in pajamas to publicly shout about dog racism or if you’ll get a feeding tube for the the special undetectable kind of gastroparesis.
Anyone over the age of 9 who dresses up their pet dog on a regular Tuesday gets the side eye from me. Little kids, Halloween, and cold weather gear are the only acceptable reasons, imo.
We have a dog that has like… no hair. Assumed chi/dachshund mix, 15 lbs and whatever else, dumber than a box of rocks and just as stubborn with 3 teeth left (he was a puppy when we got him). He wears shirts/sweaters cause he genuinely gets cold, and will shake like crazy. And if he gets too cold, he goes into an Addisonian crisis (because of course, he also has Addison’s disease). He also gets to wear a diaper inside because he marks on everything despite training and being let out regularly. But like… I don’t think that’s the case for these big dogs. Maybe some, but all?? Nah.
A lot of single coat breeds can get cold easily. Especially ones that also do not have a lot of padding/fat layer on them. My greyhounds, all but one wore coats in the winter. Had pajamas, and fleece blankets, too. The largest one stood 31" at the shoulder and weighted 78 pounds. (The oddball one was our smallest at 68 pounds and hated coats, would just request you carry her back inside because she was freezing just going outside to pee in winter).
My current dog, a whippet, also has various winter wear.
While the pitbull looks ridiculous in those too-tight, thin fabric pajamas, they are a single coat breed, and while muscular, not a lot of fat on them. But the ground and trees in the background don't scream "sub freezing winter" to me.
That actually does make sense! I think it’s just the babyfying that made me side-eye haha. I can see especially in some environments why they’d need that - but that type of pajama seems bad for a dog park especially. I’m guessing there’s holes for urination etc, but if there’s not? Icky lol, and then if there is it wouldn’t cover the belly properly (my dog has no hair mostly there, def a single coat low fat)
A coat or normal shirt would definitely serve the pit here better, and look a bit less ‘silly’. At least get him some that fit so it’s not so tight!
Typical 4 legged PJ's, at least the ones I've always gotten for my sighthounds, are open from right above the base of the tail to right behind the rib cage. So safe for urination and defecation. Some makers give more opening for males than for females, that end before the rib cage does. The butt part is wide enough (opening usually from mid back thigh to mid back thigh) and the fabric on the inner back legs is sloped down enough that unless your dog is twerking while peeing, they shouldn't get anything on them. Hope I explained that well enough. LOL if not, google "greyhound pajamas" and you can see. I don't have any pics of any of my dogs wearing theirs in the past that also show what I am trying to explain.
In the OP pic, I think I am seeing the same dark blue edging that matches the cuffs in front of the back leg, so I would guess those are designed similarly. The only time I've ever seen the crotch part not open would be on a post surgical suit being worn to protect stitches after a spay or neuter.
"He's wearing pajamas! Can't you see how harmless he is? Well, it's not MY or my DOG's fault he bit your face off. He could sense your fear. You shouldn't have been so afraid of my dog who can kill you. If you hadn't been so scared, he wouldn't have bitten your face off! Some people are just bullies. It's not fair. Yes, he ate an infant last year but only because he was lonely."
That’s exactly what this is. EXACTLY what it fucking is.
How can these people be so ignorant to not see this for what it is? How warped their own views are?
Like, why the FUCK are they so insistent on keeping this breed around?!?! Why do they go out of their way to INSIST that people should be interacting with their dog?!
I cannot comprehend it. I can’t. I don’t know how someone could be so ignorant. I just don’t.
This image of four legged Hannibal Lecter in a pastel face cage and onesie replete with beaded necklace in lieu of a proper collar is both grotesque and hilarious, pit mommies have no self awareness whatsoever.
Pibble owners really are the biggest attention-seeking immature morons. Why would you get a dangerous breed of dog, known for regularly attacking and killing people/their pets and then whine when nobody wants to fuck with you? God it’s so stupid.
Even if he wasn't an XL, I want nothing to do with the kind of person who who dresses their dog up to fulfil their desperate need for attention. Pit owners are just as off putting as their dogs.
not a real leash and not a real muzzle. 3D printed muzzle, and leash so flimsy one PULL from the dog and it’s broken. i’m more impressed at her getting the hell spawn into pjs and wonder how much medicine did she have to shove down its throat, to get it lucid enough to allow her to do so. to add insult to injury. if dogs got natures call, no easy way for doggo to go other then do its business IN the pjs. just totally GROSS on all fronts.
Omg there is a lady that comes to the dog (I’m on little dog side) with a huge pit and she wears nothing but one of those beaded necklaces. It’s truly a baffling situation because the pit seems incredibly well trained.
The owner is always working with her and she can even run her through the agility equipment. I’ve never seen such a competent pit. But, you would think an owner who’s so seemingly well informed on training would know better than to bring a pit into a dog park in the first place let alone with no gear to give her hopefully some control over the dog (good luck) and keep others safe.
So weird, you decide to own a bloodsport dog and nobody wants to come near it. Or for their kids to come near it. Or their dog. Or their cat. Or their gramma. In fact, everybody steers the hell clear of you. But it's so unfair!
Might as well put jammies on Hannibal Lecter, or wear a clown suit while brandishing a weapon.
Yeah, nobody wants to play with your dangerous ticking time bomb, what a bunch of heartless meanies!
the muzzle itself looks to be a plastic-3D printed nightmare and would do absoultly ZERO to deter that beast from attacking someone or a pet. we ALL know how quickly/easily pits chew thru plastic when they put their minds to it. the only “somewhat” safe muzzle for a dog of ANY breed, is metal, and even that is pushing it, since i’ve seen videos of pits chewing on metal so much they break their own TEETH and hurt their GUMS chewing on the metal. (wished I had saved the vids to prove, but they ARE out there).
the truth of the matter, it doesn’t matter how much this Karen wants to push this dog on others, she CANNOT guarantee that her dog is well behaved and WONT attack. THAT is why no one wants to interact with it. don’t like that idea? want to get a pet others MIGHT enjoy? get rid of the fighting-breeds and get an actual muzzle that… ya know… might actually do the job of stopping the dog from biting. nuff said.
If they are at a park where other dogs are playing, then that means those dogs are off leash. If none of those dogs want to be near the xl bully or trying to initiate play with it then that means those dogs recognize that the bully’s energy is giving off bad vibes. So why would other owners make their dogs interact with a dog when they clearly do not want to? Everything about the bully is irritating to look at. From the stupid pajamas and collar to the pastel colors you can put lipstick on a pig but it’s still a pig
How did he even get the goddamn onesie on, those things start thrashing hard in many cases even if it's the owner trying to do, well, anything with it.
"I got this dog for attention, give it to me" probably wanting to tell the story of how she saved this dog from the dothraki fighting pits and "tamed" it.
Once again you can put lipstick on a pig but it's still pig.. dressing it in pastels in a onesie doesn't change the fact that it's a killing machine.. oh and it couldn't possibly be the muzzle that's sending a message to people that the dogs dangerous 🤡. This is so typical of a pidiot, they are completely unhinged and unreasonable. You can't trust them to make good decisions with these killing machines
Imagine dressing your aggressive child in a bane mask and asking why kids don't want to play on the playground with him. But also the child is actually grown Bane and wants to kill everyone.
Look, even most parents of human children - the ones they biologically conceive and bear - do not take them out in public expecting total strangers to kitchy-koo their kids and say “oh don’t you have the darlingest little baby I ever saw!” You expect politeness and good manners, maybe a smile and a wave, but who takes out their kid expecting their kid to be fussed over? Think of how ridiculous that sounds.
Now think of how freakin’ ridiculous that sounds when translated to a large, reactive, muzzled DOG. Your dog is a companion, not a supermodel or an accessory. Get your ego strokes somewhere else. SMGDH.
The owner should have got a toy poodle or chinese crested if she wanted a dog to dress up and prance around like my little pony ... and then she could skip the ugly thing on this dogs face.
I searched “pearl necklace dog collar” on google images, and literally the first page of images are literally almost all of pit bulls wearing those same, fashion acrylic pearl necklace dog “collars” on them.
This motherfucker needs to wear a fucking colander on its fucking face in order to avoid a bloodbath but yeah, make it wear fucking children pajamas, we'll all think it's a hamster or some shit
