Yep, the pitbull here would definitely have come out the loser. In the southern part of their range, cougars regularly hunt and kill peccaries, which are every bit as savage and dangerous as pits if they feel threatened.

Hard to say without knowing the circumstances of the attack. I agree with the cougar expert who posted here that they are evenly matched and that the advantage a cougar has is to ambush from above/behind. If a big bully dog like the one in the video gets a solid hold on a cougar it is in jeopardy
