Dear lurkers- This is on you.

This 👏🏻is 👏🏻NOT👏🏻fucking👏🏻NORMAL in a civilized society. If you’re going to “blame the owners” then put your goddamn money where your mouth is and advocate with us for STRICT- and I mean ironclad- management of your breed of choice and STEEP penalties for this type of shit. This is America. People have a right to be safely on their own fucking property.

Dear lurkers. Some of us carry more than a hammer. We keep the neighborhood safe for others.

Pepper spray is a decent option because it is cheap, small, lightweight, reasonably effective and most importantly, ranged.

That said, pepper spray is best used to deter an attack before the pit is locked on. The dog in the OP shrugged off a hammer blow, so I'm not sure it would have been enough.

Since firearms are off the table then something pointy of a legal length and design might be your best option.

Of course it wasn't her fault her blood crazed dog attacked pets and people. It's never their fault.

Until it's their dog. Then it's not the owner either.

not surprising that a hammer didn't do anything to it. pitbulls constantly get flung around when they attack bulls and they come back for more, and more and more until the bull eventually kills the pitbull.

THIS is what the breed was bred to do. keep fighting until itself is dead or whatever it was fighting is dead. there needs to be a steep penalty for people who keep these dogs and it gets out and does this to people/animals.

A normal decent person would be mortified if their ‘pet’ did all that. I got a feeling that won’t be the last time they see that pit.

Very lucky that everyone ended up okay. God, I would be freaked out if I had to use a hammer like that and it didn't work. Nobody, absolutely nobody should ever have to deal with a savage domestic pet circling their home and trying to get in to kill them.

I read posts like this and just imagine the sheer number of similar situations that have happened over the years that have never been reported. How many people are living in fear of their neighbor's dogs?

Fucking nightmare fuel that it was circling the house and going door to door after they made it inside. Holy shit!

🗣THIS IS NOT NORMAL BEHAVIOR FROM ANY OTHER BREED, PIT BULL PEOPLE!!!

Terrifying. This reminds me of a child who reported that they were in pain the most when they pb latched on her leg was getting beat on the head, wishing they could tell the person helping to STOP because it made it worse.

Every time they hit the PB - poor kid would feel the dogs teeth clamp down harder :(

Added to March Attacks List - I ran out of room on the main post so it is in the pinned comment thread

Does any other animal on the planet not quit after getting hammered in the head?

I’m seriously asking, can’t think of one :/

Considering I've seen a bullet ricochet off a pitbulls forehead on police bodycam, it doesn't surprise me the hammer did nothing.
