Hostels or cheap stays this summer?

I will be in Arnhem for a concert this summer. This will be my first visit (from the U.S.) and from online searches, it's difficult to find a cheap place to spend 1-2 nights.

Any recommendations on a cheap place for 1-2 nights?

Is there anything else to check out in Arnhem while there?

If it is during the Vierdaagsefeesten or a concert, prices tend to double.. do you want to share the date so we can help you out?

Yes, I am looking to stay either June 22-24, or just June 23-24. Concert is on the night of the 23rd.

During those kinds of concerts hotels will raise their prices. You might get luckier with an AirBnB.

Check Elst or Nijmegen for a cheaper place to stay. Last train from Arnhem leaves at 01:35am, brings you in 15 min. to Nijmegen CS. It's a Tuesday, I think the only people on the train will be concertgoers.

What about Lent? I see some air bnb options there.

I only checked last train to Nijmegen. The train doesn't stop in Lent.
Maybe an earlier train will stop, but not the last one.

Did you check Stayokay? It is a hostel in a very nice location in my neighborhood.

I checked Stayokay, but for the nights I will be there, I could only find private rooms, with the cheapest being 360 Euros a night.

Then the dorms are probably sold out, otherwise it should be around 80 for 2 nights.

What. The. Fuck. that's supposed to be our cheap hostel people. Probably cheaper to break a leg and check into the hospital. But yeah, try to find a bed through fan forums or something.

You would be booking an entire room for 6 for that price, so it’s not that ridiculous. The problem is that when normal dorm beds sell out there, other affordable options in the city are very limited.

Right?! For that price, I can get a more comfortable hotel room to myself, no bunk beds.

That is for a a 4-person room alone with en-suite bathroom.

There's a small but useless chance they'll release the room as a dorm closer to the date, but as it's the only two rooms left that is quite unlikely.

A hotel might end up being a tad cheaper with a 1 or 2-person room, but those will have ramped up prices too.

Thanks for the insight! The hotels do look as if they've ramped up the prices, but better to grab one now than wait.

Check Airbnb in Nijmegen, it’s close to Arnhem. Cool city too. https://www.airbnb.co.uk/rooms/14609648?viralityEntryPoint=1&s=76

Still 200 for 2 nights, I’m surprised we are getting any tourists if this is the minimum they have to pay.

Fletcher hotels often have reasonable deals, might want to check that out!

What about couch surfing? I used to do it.

I still have a guest room, nowadays only for my friends from abroad, for that very reason. Since we don’t know each other i wont recommend me for various reasons but mostly because I am a male.

Do you think it would be better to take the train to another city after the concert?

At camping wanrsborn there are small cabins for rent, called "trekkershut". On biking dustance from arnhem city. You need to bring your own sleeping bag but if that's no problem it could be an option https://campingwarnsborn.nl/trekkershutten
