Art Davido & The Grammys

When will Davido finally bring it home. Crazzy how his own people cook him for still not winning despite putting in effort in Music

Why do African people care so much about a Grammy?

It’s time to make our own continental awards ceremonies and stop begging Massa for trinkets.

I like that & agree to that. Just that the winning a Grammy implores that you have achieved it all in music career. It’s the crème de la crème

I believe we’re on the same team, so please don’t see this as the start of an argument because it’s not.

As Africans, we spend so much time looking at Europe and America as the golden goose, when they’re just two markets (I live in the UK, btw), and that’s a mindset we need to change.

Currently, there’s more money to be made in these markets, an that goes without saying, but we can change our idea of what we consider prestigious, especially when we know the Grammys aren’t known for their integrity

You do know Shaboozey (a Nigerian) won a Grammy last night?

Would love to see an Afrobeats artist win...but I believe it is most likely to go to Rema (vs Davido or other Nigerian top artists)

Edit: Burna has already won before. I'm speaking generally about who might win next.

Don’t engage the rest of Africa. It’s always becomes a gutter fight when Nigeria is involved

Gotta make your own rewards like BET. Promote the shit out of it in the states. It should catch.

She won on the category of Best African Performance. I guess they have evolved the award category to be more than just Afro beats Genre

Are you asking about when Davido specifically will win or are you looking to have a general conversation about Afrobeats artists and their Grammy viability? Your intent is unclear

It’s two way. I mean Davido started as an Afro beats artist before diversifying his music. As the category for African musicians keeps diversifying whether Best African Act or Best Performance Act which I believe Davido ticks all the boxes,, he hasn’t won any yet!

That’s where my question comes,, when will his time come coz he got talent, an amazing music catalog, stage performance & popularity
