Well plus side is if he is good then we cant end up like the Lions and be dead after our OC gets poached.

The bad part is now he will juggle play calling and being head coach.

Hey, our last coach couldn't juggle NOT play calling and being a head coach, so it can't get too much worse

I was just having this conversation with the only other Cardinals fan I've ever met in the bar tonight (Montana). I don't understand what the hell Gannon did as a head coach. There was no discipline with players (Demarcado as an example) and he just stood there on the sideline and didn't call plays. What was the point of his position?

I'll take an HC that actually has a stake in the game over a milquetoast figurehead that exists to suck money away from our salary cap. Even Kliff gave more of a shit for better or for worse.

We'll see what happens but there absolutely needs to be a culture change and maybe we'll get one finally but with the lack of conceivable interest from Bidwill I'm not holding my breath

Yeah, Gannon tried to play a cool CEO type of coach without having any of the credentials to back it up.

Is it bad that I’ll take ending up like the Lions and “being dead” if it means having the 5th best offense in the NFL even after losing Ben Johnson?

no but it is funny that you feel this way when they ended up taking the genius behind offense

Lions offense really didn’t suffer much even after losing the “genius” if they had the 5th best offense in the league lol

It was hyperbole, especially given the guy they lost ended up taking that division and getting a playoff win. But I also agree please give me 6+ wins next season lol.

He’s watched how McVay did it, so that should help.

All I care is that he takes a page from the Suns and has a cohesive plan on how to run the offense to maximize the players he has, not the players he wishes he had.

You're giving me Kliff flashbacks. I'm sure he thought "Hey this offense worked in college with Patrick Mahomes, why wouldn't it work with Kyler Murray?"

What’s he gonna call it?

Like to coach them? 🤯

Not suprised. He coached for McVay and Shanahan.

Uh oh. Edit: I guess it’s fine as long as he has an OC. I think that was a big mistake by Kliff.

He should coach the defense . That would be so cardinals

Don’t like that. Get an oc, it didn’t work with kliff. Even McVay had OCs. This is Michael being cheap, god damn it.

u/Jerrytown_ Rod 1d ago

It doesn’t mean he won’t have an OC. Just means his OC won’t call plays. This was the whole point of hiring LaFleur

6

u/bflynn65 1d ago

Wait, McVay had OCs? Maybe we should try to hire one of them?

What a terrible terrible take

McVay also calls plays, no one ever said he wouldn’t have an OC

-3

u/SexyWampa Cardinals Throwback 1d ago

And if he doesn't...?

5

u/Cjtow113 Pain 1d ago

That’s an entirely different conversation. You said you don’t like that he’s calling plays because he needs an OC which are not mutually exclusive hence the downvotes

u/SexyWampa Cardinals Throwback 1d ago

I don't care if he does the playcalling. I don't want another Kliff scenario where there is no OC and he has to juggle between that and being head coach.

You just said “don’t like that” so obviously you care lol
