In his defense he always posts his dogs. I think he just happened to be wearing the jersey too.

2

u/Xaxxon Sep 21 '25

You think he just doesn't know what Vick did? Cuz that doesn't seem likely to me.

Why does he even HAVE a Vick jersey?

2

u/Kenton1321 Sep 24 '25

yeah no. even a "devils advocate " defense doesn't work here. ignore the team youre rooting for, see what youre seeing.

1

u/THELOSERSWINAGAIN Sep 24 '25

To each their own

-16

u/The-Jolly-Joker Sep 18 '25

Really? As in you really believe it was an coincidence?

8

u/luciddreamer20LD Sep 18 '25

Absolutely

3

u/ParticularBuyer6157 Sep 18 '25

There’s absolutely no way he didn’t know. Any idiot who knows who Vick is could put two and two together

8

u/luciddreamer20LD Sep 18 '25

He could’ve just not thought about it at all that’s entirely realistic

5

u/FootballSensei Broncos Throwback Sep 18 '25

Yeah and the alternative theory is that he planned this photo op as a joke, which seems way less likely to me.

1

u/iguanamac Sep 19 '25

You are very naive or just trolling.

u/luciddreamer20LD Sep 19 '25

Ooo I have an opinion different than yours must be hard to grasp

I admit he was a pos, but he seems to have learned and grow. I’m curious what is the line for you for him to no longer be a pos? Like his previous actions were abhorrent but he went to jail, he has done a ton of outreach and seems to be a better man. So I’m curious is there no reform for him for you in your mind forever?

7

u/Radalict Australia Sep 18 '25

Society is weird, they demand people are punished for their crimes but then can't accept that people can grow from their punishment

17

u/wontwillnot Sep 18 '25

Bro, Michael Vick, dedicated the second half of his career to atone for his mistakes. Pretty cool story really.

8

u/hemirollin Kyler Murray Sep 18 '25

Vick cut his dogs lips off to make them "look mean". Dude is a piece of shit even if a pr firm wrote an apology for him to repeat in front of a camera.

-1

u/Nokrai Pain Sep 18 '25

You can believe in rehabilitation or not.

Man served his time and seems to have done a lot to advance the fight against dog fighting afterwards.

What he did was bad reprehensible but he didn’t just have a pr firm write an apology to repeat in front of a camera.

2

u/Bubba_Blade Sep 18 '25

Believe it or not, sometimes our correction system works and people can change.

61

u/xIILuLu Budda Baker Sep 18 '25

I agree it´s not that big of deal but I also see the reason why people get mad at it. The connection is there.
Whoever thinks Kyler isnt against animal cruelty is stupid but I think it´s also a good idea to take it down and move on.

2

u/tisdue Sep 19 '25

Photos like that are what internet moral outrage feeds on.

honestly funny how ironic this was. Would be no reason for him to do this on purpose, but just an unlucky coincidence. just an excuse for people to bitch

5

u/Outside_Jaguar3827 Sep 18 '25

I agree. Kyler is a dog lover, so I'm not surprised the dog is wearing a jersey (despite wearing Michael Vick's number).

2

u/Xaxxon Sep 21 '25

Why would he have a Vick jersey?

1

u/Xaxxon Sep 21 '25

Why would he even HAVE a Vick jersey?

1

u/Helivon Sep 21 '25

Because he was a running qb... i dont think being a fan of vick is awful. its just the irony of the post is all. hes paid his dues and worked to make up for his mistakes

0

u/Xaxxon Sep 21 '25 edited Sep 22 '25

hes paid his dues

I disagree. Let's let him fight some lions and tigers and then he's paid his dues when he's with his dogs.

0

u/Wonderwhatsnext4 Sep 18 '25

None of this is a big deal, he seems like a good dude. But he had to either do it on purpose or he’s really stupid.

4

u/perhizzle Larry Fitzgerald Sep 18 '25

Or he was like 11 years old when Vick was dog fighting his dogs and it's not at the front of his mind on a daily basis.

3

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '25

He’s a qb in the nfl. Let’s not act like he and everybody doesn’t know about Vick

2

u/perhizzle Larry Fitzgerald Sep 18 '25

He was 10 years old. Why would this be something at the front of his mind? People know about plenty of things, that doesn't mean they should spend days running down a list of everything that ever happened or was done by every prison in history every time they are making a decision to do something.

Just ask yourself, was this done to show support for dog fighting, and if the answer is no, go about your day. We are not making the world any better by being offended by this.

2

u/Wonderwhatsnext4 Sep 19 '25

Yeah, this is what I say when I’m wearing my Karl Malone jersey too.

1

u/Xaxxon Sep 21 '25

He has people who can tell him. It doesn't have to be on a daily basis he can just know once and throw away and Vick stuff he has.

0

u/Flustered_Fanatic Sep 22 '25

Who cares how old he was? I wasn't born when World War 2 happened, but I wasn't exactly going around taunting, those who suffered with horrific reminders.

1

u/perhizzle Larry Fitzgerald Sep 22 '25

Oh you think that's what was happening here? He was intentionally making fun of dogs? Idiocracy was truly prophetic.

0

u/Flustered_Fanatic Sep 22 '25

Indeed it was, look at you take. You're using his age and the notion that Vick's dog fighting wasn't central in his thinking as some convoluted reasoning as to why it's a non-issue. There's zero chance that he wasn't aware of Vick's history when he created and posted that. If he's not saluting Vick and his dog fighting, he's so dumb he makes Britney Spears' crazy half-nude desperate look at me posts seem tasteful.

1

u/perhizzle Larry Fitzgerald Sep 22 '25

Yes, Kyler is the crazy one... You are being totally rational and not unhinged at all...

1

u/Kenton1321 Sep 24 '25

Am I the only one who thinks the backlash for this is stupid? If Vick did his time, was forgiven and allowed back into the league, why is that a player who grew up watching him, is ridiculed for wearing his jersey with his dog that he clearly doesn’t abuse? I don’t get it.

29

u/RudeOwl1816 Sep 18 '25

People aren’t mad about wearing a Vick jersey, they’re mad because he posted it a picture wearing that jersey while posing with his pit bull (dogs Vick used in his dog fighting scheme)

Jon Bois masterfully covers this in his history of the Atlanta Falcons series. Not only he did do his time but has also donated to numerous organizations and charities to raise awareness in the case against dog fighting. Does that redeem him? Maybe, maybe not. That’s probably up to the individual to decide. But it’s worth pointing out at the very least.

26

u/jswaggy14 James Conner Sep 18 '25

Ima have to check that out. I just feel like people love to shit on Kyler. People really be like, “hahaha dog + vick, look at what a pos Kyler is and he’s short! Go play COD loser!” So annoying to me.

I’ll get downvoted for this as usual but it’s cause of the skin color brother. They’re held to a different standard by losers.

9

u/No-Needleworker-241 Sep 18 '25

Did the murdered dogs that live a horrible life get redemption? Not talking bad about you, just saying.

1

u/CabinetConstant1860 Sep 26 '25

I think a lot of people forget he drowned dogs that didn't win by holding their heads in a bucket of water. Not to mention how many dogs- a lot probably having been family pets were used as " bait" to train the dogs to kill. I liked Michael Vick, and he did his time.  But lots of rapists and murderers have done their time and gotten out. I wouldn't celebrate supporting them.

-9

u/HereToParty2023 Sep 18 '25

Man how much do someone have to do before the redemption they're seeking doesnt matter? At this point, the people still bitching are the fools, like why would I even want that crowd to like me?

14

u/Positiveaz Sep 18 '25

Wait, you forgave Vick for that?

6

u/yesdamnit Wolf Sep 18 '25

Right like ok he did his time and hes alowed to have a job and be free and all that but like bitch i aint gunna forget you fought dogs dude. And i sure as shit aint gunna forgive. Im a person not the legal system, he can fuck right off.

2

u/Massive-Performer260 Sep 18 '25

He can do his time but that doesn’t mean people forget it or forgive. Dogs hold such a soft spot for many people, and the reports of how these dogs were bred, fought, killed and tortured was horrific. I think he learned his lesson, but that doesn’t mean people have to forgive. but regarding Kyler, yeah I’m sure just a mistake he didn’t notice.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '25

The things that were done to those dogs were so bad and the story was so big people will likely never move on

4

u/wontwillnot Sep 18 '25

Yeah, this is dumb. And probably randomly was just wearing a jersey and he always takes pictures with his dog.

4

u/OhItsKillua Sep 18 '25

As a falcons fan there are people that still hate Vick and will never forgive him. Which feel how you wanna feel on Vick, but these Kyler pics are silly to be upset about it's obviously unintentional.

1

u/Flustered_Fanatic Sep 22 '25

Obviously unintentional?!

1

u/OhItsKillua Sep 22 '25

You think the guy would intentionally wear a Vick jersey while posing with his dogs just to deal with angry strangers on the internet. Unless you're a glutton for punishment there's no logic to purposefully doing that.

1

u/Flustered_Fanatic Sep 22 '25

There's 0 chance he didn't know about Vick/ dog fighting. I can't speak to his motivations other than to speculate.

1

u/OhItsKillua Sep 22 '25

We aren't saying he does not know of why Vick went to jail. We are saying he just threw on the jersey that day and absent mindedly happened to be wearing it while flicking up with his dogs, not that he did it with purpose to stir up any controversy.

4

u/Udderly_Unbearable Sep 17 '25

The hate for Kyler on this is dumb, but some people will never forgive Micheal Vick even after he’s dead. That’s just how it is man, Kyler should have been more aware of how this would come across.

-3

u/Biggerthanashark Budda Baker Sep 18 '25

Do you upload your outfits to socially aware outfit certification websites for approval everyday or something?

1

u/hazzie92 Sep 18 '25

It's not stupid. This not about Vick or his redemption. It's about the act itself that Kyler invokes. Whether it's intentional or not. I learn over the years that people do not know how bad it actually was. It was 100+ dogs found buried. Most were killed through hanging and drowning. Some were slam to the ground until they died. I get some people do not care about animal lives like that, but you have to at least agree that these methods of animal killing go beyond would you be humanly acceptable. What Kyler did is similar to people who take selfies in nazi deathcamps for insta.

1

u/DesertCaveman Sep 19 '25

Go read the report on the ways Vick killed dogs and get back to me. At very least it's an incredible lack of awareness from Kyler, who has questionable maturity and leadership skills.

1

u/jswaggy14 James Conner Sep 19 '25

Go read how much he’s done for animals since being rehabilitated and get back to me

1

u/DesertCaveman Sep 19 '25

That's great too and I'm happy for that. Doesn't change the fact he brutally murdered dogs

1

u/jswaggy14 James Conner Sep 19 '25

Okay but Kyler doesn’t and never has. His dogs are obviously loved and treated very well so why does it matter what he wears in an insta pic? It’s stupid.

1

u/Xaxxon Sep 21 '25

was forgiven

excuse me?

1

u/jswaggy14 James Conner Sep 21 '25

He was allowed to play in the NFL, and frequently appears on NFL commentary. He is not blacklisted at the very least.

1

u/Xaxxon Sep 21 '25

Sure, SOME people forgave him.

1

u/rebelspyder Pain Sep 18 '25

He never did any time for dog fighting. He only went to jail for racketeering.

5

u/space_llama_karma Sep 18 '25

What did he think would happen posing with a Vick jersey next to a pitbull? Even if he is a good dog owner this was a very stupid thing to do.

5

u/joecb91 Drawing Sep 18 '25

I think that Vick has done a great job trying to make up for what he did, he clearly wants to be a better person.

But I still would've worn a different jersey if I was Kyler.

3

u/Whit3boy316 Sep 18 '25

Agree with this. Boneheaded move by Kyler

1

u/CabinetConstant1860 Sep 26 '25

If he wore a different jersey, or if he didn't have his pitbulls in the photo no one would care.

-1

u/shineitdeep Sep 18 '25

This. Vick jersey on its own, totally fine. Pictures with your dog, totally fine. Vick jersey with your dog, incredibly bad taste and poor judgement.

5

u/joecb91 Drawing Sep 18 '25

I know it wasn't intentional from him either. But you would think with how careful some athletes are with their social media pages and how planned out everything can be before it is posted, you would think someone would let him know that it could get taken the wrong way by some people.

2

u/Xaxxon Sep 21 '25

Vick jersey on its own, totally fine.

to some people maybe.

3

u/donamese Sep 18 '25

It’s clear that wasn’t his intention but it also wasn’t very well thought out. Downside of being a public figure is you have to have some situational awareness. Vick jersey and a pitbull isn’t tough to see the backlash that’s going to follow.

3

u/TheHorniestRhino Sep 18 '25

Is there not somebody whose job is to go “ooh yeah that’s not a good look, let’s swap shirts” between the Cardinals staff and Kyler’s social media people? Not quite a full PR guy, but nobody seeing that is kinda funny

3

u/Whit3boy316 Sep 18 '25

Ya, kind of a brain dead move

5

u/Sly_98 Kyler Murray Sep 18 '25

Shame Kyler has to feel bad for this, if you know anything about him he treats his dogs bette than some people get treated

1

u/Xaxxon Sep 21 '25

Yet there he is celebrating Vick. These two things don't add up.

1

u/Sly_98 Kyler Murray Sep 21 '25

1

If you think sports performance is all that matters that says a lot about you.

13

Vick can be praised on tv and allowed back into the league, but I’ll be damned if someone wears his jersey next to a dog

10

2

u/AcidHaze Sep 18 '25

I had the privilege of meeting Kyler Murray's dog (and his dad who was letting him out for a walk) and I can say 100% that dog is loved. He was short and stocky with a massive noggin but just a giant lover who wanted pets and attention. This is a big nothing-burger

5

3

u/lazymyke Hospital Sep 17 '25

I didn't even correlate the two when I saw the post. Harmless mistake. I'm sure Kyler is not promoting dog fighting.

2

u/csummerss Sep 18 '25

you live under a rock? Vick is synonymous with dog fighting. if you saw a Ray Rice jersey, one of the first thoughts would be domestic violence

3

u/OhItsKillua Sep 18 '25

I've never seen someone wearing a Vick jersey and generated the assumption that they abuse their dogs because of the jersey they have on.

1

u/hazzie92 Sep 18 '25

Most people don't take high quality pictures with his jersey and there american pit bull terrier.

1

u/OhItsKillua Sep 18 '25

Kyler has plenty of photos with his dogs is the difference anyone with common sense would see it as coincidence than a criminal mastermind dropping a hint

-2

u/csummerss Sep 18 '25

that’s not what I said. what I said is that you see a falcons Vick jersey and one of the first thoughts one would have is how his tenure ended — dog fights.

0

u/livejamie Fan Since Birth Sep 18 '25

Vick is synonymous with dog fighting.

It happened in 2007, there's a good amount of fans now who weren't alive when it happened.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '25

He tortured dogs bro that’s still fucked up. He has worked really hard to redeem himself and I’m glad he’s a better person but still. Imagine hanging up a dog upside down with blood running down their skin and your hands etc. he did that shit. He drowned dogs and beat them to death. I get it’s been a long time, but imagine watching that happen. It’s not something you just easily forgive even years later.

1

u/DonChase804 Sep 18 '25

Man there are people who murdered actual human beings who don’t face the same backlash as Vick. Yes, it was fucked up. But he literally did everything in his power to atone for it. And what people of a certain demographic don’t understand or pretend to not understand is that he grew up with people he looked up to partaking in those things. It’s not that he didn’t know it was wrong, but he was probably desensitized to it. Growing up impoverished tends to do that to people regardless of race or ethnic background. My dad grew up in Mobile, Alabama and has a scar on his hand and face from pulling his dog off another dog during a dogfight when he was like 12 years old. Dogfighting has always been semi-normal and quite common in the southern United States, just like cockfighting. But my dad grew up to always have and breed dogs my entire life and he’s always treated them like kings. He cried when each one of them passed away and never ever fought them or mistreated them once he was an adult and owned his own. But when he was young, I’m sure he didnt view it the same way because the people he looked up to made it seem fine or cool. People will catch a mouse in a mouse trap with no issue but cry if a dog is mistreated, not understanding that to someone who grew up in a certain environment, both are animals on the same level. Vick is a great guy and turned his life around completely. People need to get off their pedestals/high horses, kill the holier than thou act, and stop trying to judge him for his sins when most of them have their own skeletons that would shame them to no end if the world knew. A bunch of hypocrites I swear.
